I'm trying to get this to work with Filtering Enabled, but I always have difficulties on doing so. Here's the script:
script.Parent.FocusLost:connect(function(enter) if enter then v = game.Players.LocalPlayer for a, mod in pairs(v.Character:children()) do if mod:findFirstChild("NameTag") then v.Character.Head.Transparency = 0.99 mod:Destroy() end end
local char = v.Character local mod = Instance.new("Model", char) mod.Name = script.Parent.Text local cl = char.Head:Clone() cl.Parent = mod
local hum = Instance.new("Humanoid", mod) hum.Name = "NameTag" hum.MaxHealth = 0 hum.Health = 0
local weld = Instance.new("Weld", cl) weld.Part0 = cl weld.Part1 = char.Head char.Head.Transparency = 1 end end)

slap it in a server script and boom done. the ony thing u need to do is add a remote event to fire the server when the focus is lost, then then on the server to modify the character

| Can you go a little more into detail with that? The server script was placed in the GUI itself, and the remote event/function went into the workspace. It doesn't wanna budge. |

Server Script in GUI: debounce = false script.Parent.MouseButton1Down:connect(function() if debounce == false then debounce = true game.Workspace.RPNameGUI:FireServer() wait(3) debounce = false end end)

| When the focuslost() event fires, the client fires a RemoteEvent to the server passing their name as an argument, the server makes the name tag and wallah. |

Probably because they aren't a moron.

| Thank you SO much @Scriptural! Is that the only way you can have a player's name changed? Or at least is there a way to have a player see their own name when they change it? If not that's totally fine, this will definitely work. Your time is appreciated! |

I actually purposely hid their name to make it more like the default roblox name thing, remove this like in the local script falseHead.Humanoid.DisplayDistanceType = (Enum.HumanoidDisplayDistanceType.None)
And they will be able to see the name.

| FE is for people who are scared about client sides changing server side stuff. Even if you did get an exploiter, how much damage could he really do from changing some values. What, he terrorizes ONE server? Horrible. |

That is possibly the stupidest thing I have ever read.
If that be the case then why try and stop exploiters at all? Its just a server, after all. Why does rockstar keep banning GTA V modders, its just one server after all Why is it wrong to shut down someones website, its just a server after all
Why is it bad to not tip, its just a server after all

| There is a HUGE flaw in your argument. Roblox games usually have hundreds of servers. GTA V has a massive server containing a whole lot of people. A website is ONE server, so if it goes down, the entire thing goes down. One player on Roblox cannot destroy an entire game from messing with one server and giving himself super speed and in game currency. |

| The bottom line is, dudefun, that ROBLOX is a multiplayer platform. If you create a game without filteringEnabled where exploiters can consistently wreak havoc, there is no incentive for players to keep returning, or for an audience to build; leaderboards will be meaningless, items and awards meaningless. FilteringEnabled is a (i argue: necessary) first and very strong line of defense to keep a creator's game more secure. |

He could join a game, unachor everything, and repeat. Then he could ruin the whole thing. I don't see how GTA V's server size change anything.

Out of 1000 people, how many do you think would be smart enough to exploit and find a way to even exploit? It is VERY unlikely and almost to the point where its not even worth it.
Moral of the story, FE is not worth it. If you are having problems with exploiters, then change your game mechanics. If you are still having problems then FE can be used as a last resort. Your chance of getting an exploiter is very low. |

A large server = more damage.
A large server = less servers. |

Or you could just use FE from the start and not have to worry...

| Just because one way of developing a game is easier, doesn't mean it is better. Which one is better? FilteringEnabled. You also learn about how packet transfers work when learning FilteringEnabled. There is no reason apart from apathetic interest in the security of your game, or laziness to not have this option enabled. |

Depends on the type of game you want FE in. For a RP game it can actually ruin the experience a lot if someone exploits(I'm guessing... since well the title).
Also exploiters will always be a worry on ROBLOX. Me being an in-the-making(lol) Anime Dev I have noticed that exploiters are REALLY common in anime games(Look at Jojo's Bizzare Sideproject, and Bleach New Worlds) I am basically forced to learn FE. Everyone has to learn it, it's a part of ROBLOX now.
nothing here. |

| I agree ^ My friend's RPG game was exploited just about everyday, and her players had always complained about the hackers and exploiters. They're a nuisance, and can easily ruin the fun of a roleplay or any game they can get their hands on. She converted everything to filtering enabled, and I'm following her foot steps since she has reported that she had been getting little to none exploiters now. Sure, it's a little tricky to some to convert an entire game to FE, but it's worth it in the end in my opinion. |
