If you are one of those people who is concerned about security and enabled 2 step on their accounts, you might see that you are only allowed to receive an e-mail containing a 6 digit code after passing the first login stage. However, I find this to be an inconvenience because all my other accounts in which I use 2 step allows me to get codes delivered through an authenticator app.
ROBLOX has gotten a ton of user information, including people's e-mail accounts leaked. This means if an attacker were to hack into your e-mail then the 2 step precaution would be completely useless. Being able to use an authenticator app would prevent this sort of account theft from happening.
You should still be able use e-mail as an option for receiving codes, like if you were a parent and wanted to make sure that you know when your kid is playing ROBLOX, or if you don't have a smartphone yourself. Almost every kid carries a phone in their pocket these days, so it would be more useful to allow the use of an authenticator app to receive codes as an option.

tl;dr version:
ROBLOX should allow people to use an authenticator app as an option for enabling 2 step because many kids carry phones in their pockets these days and it would be more useful than having to log into your email every time you need a code. You should still be able to use email as an option if you didn't have a phone or vice versa.
Read the original post if you still don't get it. |
