So I submitted my game LeadStorm to try to get on RBXDev, no response at all(Negative or confirmation)(And I know that's normal).

What I don't understand is why the place didn't get me in though. It has 1k+ visits(which is popular enough right?), and features stuff that hasn't been featured on ROBLOX games that I know of.

For example, using the Universe service to create different servers of the same place, so players can have an in-game experience.

Also has realistic characters, such as knee and elbow joints.

The rest of the game is just like a normal ROBLOX fps.

So my question is, What did I do wrong?

You have to wait a few weeks before you will get the 3mail.

Uhh, If they specifically said that they reject a huge percentage of people who apply for RBXDEV, then there is no surprise when they do not reply at all. That means you're rejected, hun.

I would try to get in also, as I also do not understand the specs required, I do have scripting experience but at a different program (VB, HTML, Python). I've been "quite" active here and also have been featured so and so every once in a while.

Try re-applying when you get 30+ visits.
I'm afraid to apply because it would be a waste of my time.

@Unconcerning, it's been a few month so I doubt that is the issue.

I know I've been rejected, I more wondering on what basis. I have over 1.9k+ plays on my games(Including alts), So I'm a little over the 30 visits.

They favor people who've used and cashed out 100$ or more from the DEVEX system, so if you never bought BC, you have a hard time getting in. Unless you are famous with over ? million plays, and have been in the front page for a while, then the chances are very slim.

I got in by making Dread.

If you get enough place visits, followers on twitter, subscribers on youtube, or takes on a plugin, they're probably let you in.

Generally, you get nominated by someone else. I don't know how much I'm allowed to tell you, but all existing RBXDev members suggest users, people argue, and the admins and moderators will make their decision.

Yeppers. Generally it is very competitive. Only focused on developers who can solely script/build/ etc. on their own and effectively to be able to cash out 100k+ visits or more with DEVEX. I would apply when you are confident in your skills and are able to make a well built game... on your own. That's what a developer is.

Though I am unsure whether it *counts* for me, in my part, if I do not know LUA yet create games using a different programming language. I'm working on my ROBLOX game in python, yet I'm not done with it yet. I have to finish up all the character sprites and what not, before I make it official.

So yeah, you have to have a high end knowledge on ROBLOX functions, basically. If I finish my game and it gets big, maybe I might be able to get in even if it isn't using ROBLOX's Lua script.

They only care about the popular people.
Most place visits, asset takes, group members, DevEx $ cashed out, shirt sales, etc.
That's my hypothesis at least.
Unless you have connections with other people.

None, you got to be known among the developers, be nice and skills on scripting/building.

All your other assumptions are wrong.

Plus you've got near 0 chance to get in if you know no one in RbxDev.

What I don't get is why there aren't prestigious groups out there not run by Roblox administrators. I would love to be part of a team that competes with other development teams.

It took me a few months before I was accepted. I should note that I've never cashed out on DevEx, nor have I ever even had OBC. My total place visits is less than 10,000, and I'm neither super-rich nor super-famous. I got in because I'm good at building things.

So what I recommend is that you keep on making things, and always strive to be better. Make use of new features, such as Solid Modeling. And if you don't get in right away, just be patient. Only infrequently do they accept new members.

One other thing I will say is that they do not tolerate immaturity. If you have a reputation as a drama queen, it won't go well.

"lold they only care about famous people go make a the mad pizza delivery for insta in + 30 blog posts and unlimited robux"
I highly doubt I'm anywhere near famous, I've been mentioned once in a blog post as part of an image's caption.

"They only care about the popular people."
Aww, stop it, you'll make me blush.

"Most place visits, asset takes, group members, DevEx $ cashed out, shirt sales, etc."
Nope, nope, nope, nope, and nope. None of those fit me well.

"That's my hypothesis at least."
And I'm the proof the hypothesis is incorrect

"Unless you have connections with other people."
I don't really /know/ many of the other devs. I'm acquainted with them as I've been here for 5 years and I get to know people like them, but it was more the fact that they knew I could be mature and helpful.

"What I don't get is why there aren't prestigious groups out there not run by Roblox administrators. I would love to be part of a team that competes with other development teams."
The first team I thought of was RudDev.

=====

All-in-all, follow admiral's advice. His story is very similar to mine (with the exception I got in for scripting, he got in for building) and I would say my advice would be the same too.

well sheisse, I love being immature. I'm a kid in the inside yet the brain of a Vulcan.

I heard RBXDEV isn't really as interesting. Sure it's an exclusive forum but it is also just as monitored (that's what I heard) as Roblox forums, so it isn't as substantial to the benefit of joining.

Rumors say a majority of the RBXDEV users are very arrogant *cough*, as I would avoid messing with arrogant people...

All in all, it's not really "worth" (from what i've heard). Just an ego booster, on a forum with regular people like us. That is also monitored like this.

I could be spending my whole time building and scripting right now on Lua, but that isn't my main focus. You shouldn't build/script just for a silly RBXDEV entrance. That's like becoming a doctor because it makes you much money, but you force yourself to do things you are not as happy with.

From what i gather, these are the benefits of the RBXDev forum:

- Access to extremely early information about updates

- Communication with other legit developers and actual interesting conversations

- When joining the RBXDev group(given you're in RBXDev), roblox gives you
benefits similar to these:

+ Quick moderation (admins allow your assets faster)
+ Allowance to certain updates that have been made but are limited to trusted
users such as the servers with 256 players.

@ev

Then I don't understand. That would mean anyone could enter as long as they did something, in your case you didn't use devex or were famous/etc.
Then that would mean I would be able to enter, since I know how to use VB, Java, HTML, and I also build (I've built a 5k+ brick pixel art thing on ROBLOX). I also have some connections, and am part of another development group. Huh.

I believe the most important prereqs is the mini essay they assign you on the application form, as well as your age and other things. Basically your personal info and all. They probably just judge you by your "maturity" and the age and "potential" you have. Not from high stats, which you deny to.

Still, I can't comprehend what they mean by how they accept less than 5%? of applicants. That's ridiculous. Maybe they are just being lazy :P or what they really meant is that it's just a bunch of kids who mass- apply thus leading to the low acceptance rate.

There is actually hardly any spam on the dev forums and a lot more interesting discussion due to how selective it is. And yes people can act arrogant at times because yes, we are still regular people. The only real benefits are being able to sink time into in depth discussions free from 'op is cancer' and offsite links.

I also do take interesting in joining that forum... I can't post a topic here about creating a game without having immature posts/spam and people not understanding the seriousness of some of my threads, lol.

Would you then say the RBXDEV forum is just a forum for "mature" and "intelligent" Robloxians who have "potential"? And kind of involved in the community...

What @Mett makes me assume is that it is such a forum.

Lmao this thread was made 2 years ago.

If you want my exp
I have already made the conclusion that RBXDEV is only for people who have no lives other than ROBLOX developing, which is respectable for them to join the group in the first place. If you don't script or make anything, you simply don't deserve to get in. They're not going to put in a bunch of famous people that contribute nothing in terms of the ROBLOX Studio program itself.

TL;DR

Get in if you see yourself waking up everyday dedicating your lives to fixing bugs or to recoding your game or some crap. Other than that you don't deserve to get in.
