A graphics card serves a primary purpose of rendering video. The combination of your total RAM, and Video Ram are what make it run smoothly. At the very least, 2GB of dedicated video ram, and 8GB of standard ram working together is more than enough power. I have 4GB of dedicated video ram with 32GB of standard ram, and playing apocalypse rising on it's largest map (Reborn) takes almost nothing out of it, so I base my estimation on this.

On that much ram, I'd select a 4GB Video Ram card totaling 8GB. If you can, upgrade your computer's naturally occurring 4G of ram to 8 if it is a laptop, and add a 2GB graphics card, or 4.

Well, idk how much money you'd be willing to spend on your gpu and potential computer upgrades in order to meet your gpu's power requirements or how much wattage your psu can provide, but if you want to be able to at least play roblox, you could get something like an old gt 7** card or HD Radeon card. If you're looking for full bar level graphics, constant 60 fps with a card from nvidia, try for a gtx 750 ti, 950/960, or a 1050/1050 ti. For AMD, cards from the R9 3** series can also work, or go for the mid ranged RX 460.
(note: most of the cards i mentioned above are bang for your buck, budget options, assuming you dont want to burn a hole in your wallet).
(2nd note: these cards also require a decent quality psu, something like 300-450w continuous, with at least 80+ bronze or silver rating, should be made by reputable companies (i.e: corsair, coolermaster, antec, etc.) A psu of this quality cost about $40-60AUD from my country).

(3rd note: computer RAM and video card RAM are seperate from each other and do not correlate with each other performance-wise. Although they do work together indirectly and in same way, through the CPU and the GPU, as normal computer RAM or DDR(#) ram is used by your CPU to store info for calculations n such,, GDDR(#) RAM is used by your GPU to store info for rendering visuals, the two are seperate from each other and do not require specific amounts for the other to work properly)..

They share the load, and that is why I said that.
