Royal Canadian Mounted Police Police Codes and Communications Manual ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ This manual is to be read and known by every officer in the RCMP, it explains how all radio communication should be done for internal usage by the RCMP.
The golden rule is to be brief, clear and use grammar. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ How to transmit?
- Use your QID. - Formulate a short, understandable, sentence. - When replying, use both own QID and QID of officer you're transmitting to.
Examples: "201-T to 303, 10-4 going Code 3." - Unit 201 is responding to 303 with ELS on. "201-T is 10-19." - Unit 201 is returnning to station. "301-T to 201, SITREP please." - Unit 301 is asking 201 for a situation report. "201-T, JohnDoe is given a TON." - Unit 201 has given JohDoe a traffic warning. "201-T to all, JaneDoe is flagged, WTI." - 201 reminds everyone that JaneDoe must be brought in for interview. "201-T requesting/is 10-65." - 201 is either requesting for a prisoner transport or is transporting a prisoner. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Report and Status Codes:
- 10-3 - Stop transmitting - 10-4 - Message received, understood - 10-7 - Out of service for a short time - 10-8 - In service, available - 10-19 - Returning to station - 10-20 - Location, (can be abbreviated to '20') - 10-22 - Disregard last message - 10-23 - Standby - 10-33 - Officer in trouble - 10-71 - Shooting - 10-88 - Assume posts - 10-97 - Arrived at scene - 10-65 - Prisoner Transport ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Situation Codes:
- Code 2 - Urgent, no lights or siren - Code 3 - Urgent, use lights and siren - Code 4 - No further assistance needed - Code 10 - ERT pre-call up (ERT members get in gear at station) - Code 11 - ERT call upp (ERT members respond to location) - Code 27 - Subject wanted (include names and/or description) ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Abbreviations:
- QP: Query Person - LV: Locate stolen vehicle - Flags: Additional info to a person, usually a warning - QID: Officer Identity Number
- ASAP: As soon as possible - SITREP: Situation Report
- ERT: Emergency Response Team - ELS: Emergency Lights and Sound - PPG: Personal Protection Group - EAGLE: Police helicopter
- ION: Infrigement offence notice - TON: Traffic offence notice
- POI: Person Of Interest - VOI: Vehicle Of Interest
