1. friends should get a message/notification (preferably messages) so they're aware of who you are when you name-change and wont be puzzled after
2. name-changing should be based on ID so that your data (?) doesnt get erased on the forum - or somewhere else, your ID is your 'identity' and your username is your nickname and you cant change your ID whatsoever
these are pretty much ideas for convenience lol

Your forum count resetting based on a new username change is a matter of randomness. If you change your username back to your old one though, you retain your old forum post count

it's not
your tracked threads disappear all the time when changing your name, and i dont want to spend another 1k to change it back so i can have my tracked threads back, it should remain all the same regardless how many times i change it

Losing your tracked threads because of a name change is inconvenient I agree, there are ways around it for now such as tracking them on an alt for threads you always want bookmarked
