If you enjoy playing guitar, I believe they are.
I asked the guy sitting next to me if he had any Sodium Hyprobromite. He said, NaBrO. |

well if you learn the basic chords it's worth it because most songs use chords like G, Am, and Em and it's just worth it.
oh, and if you ever get taught to read guitar tabs, use it to your FULL ADVANTAGE.

Definitely. But they don't turn you into a superstar. They teach you how to become great, but you need to put effort in it too.

I taught myself guitar. I have this little guitar handbook. It taught me simple chords. Then, I saw guitar tabs, and I realized how to read them, it's actually quite easy.

They're great for learning proper technique, but plenty of people learn guitar on their own just fine. Guitar lessons are the best way to learn technical skill (like how to hold your pick, scales, proper strumming patterns, etc) because they're able to tell you exactly what you're doing wrong. You can teach yourself those sorts of things like I did, but it'll just take a while longer, and it will be way more frustrating. Another thing people do is teach themselves guitar, THEN get lessons. That might be a good way to go.

Thx For Replies. Idk The Reason Why I wanna Take Actual Lessons Is Because I Hate Teaching Myself Stuff And Im Always Unmotivated And Lazy And I Think If I Went To Actual Lessons Then It Would Force Me To Learn

That's another huge advantage to lessons. You're pretty much pushed into learning. You're essentially paying for artificial motivation, lol.

| Lessons are definitely the way to go if you need motivation and somebody pushing you to practice. I've been taking them for 3 years now and whatever I learn on my own, I bring to my teacher and he assists me in the proper technique for it and works with me on the technical aspect of guitar, which is really important. Just do some research on the local music schools near you and decide which one is best for you. |
