I WOULD LIKE TO STATE THAT THESE ARE MY OWN OPINIONS AND I ACCEPT THE CONSEQUENCES OF THIS THREAD BEING DELETED/ME BEING BANNED DUE CONTROVERSIES AND UNPOPULAR OPINIONS OF ROBLOX
From the beginning I was really enjoying Roblox, I took the opportunities to participate with the community. At the same time I had made some friends and lost some equally. I have also seen pitch forks raised and hell gone lose. (eg. 2013 price floor) Through this I had some ups and downs where at a point I Just decided to “give up”. I took a small break in early 2014 to early 2015 to pursue life goals. I like to thank to the Admins and supporters of Roblox, they were always there within my childhood and today.
From the views of a person who has seen Roblox shift and from the eyes of a player user from 2012 and onwards, I would like to address the state of roblox and potential of the future. I would like to state that these are 100% my opinions from the eyes of a lurker. I accept your opinions and contrasts but I would like to express mine on a more personal level.
I know that many people are unhappy about the current state of Roblox. They wish they could go back to their “golden days.” The thing is everyone would like to go back to the days where they really had fun and started exploring this new virtual world. Although this cannot be changed as we are forced to revisit old memories of these good times.
The current state of Roblox seems a bit dull to me. When I started on roblox I was pretty childish, I was immature and had no respect for anyone but my selfish gains. Roblox seems dull to me because I’m more grown up. The fact is that Roblox cannot cater to all audiences of Roblox because it was designed for kids. Roblox has a tough time doing this because we already have people playing Roblox for a whole decade now. It sounds a bit crazy but I know you guys are still out there. As a person who has been in a small part of Roblox’s growth I certainly won’t understand the perspective of these people or even Roblox’s goal as a company.
Within the future Roblox will definitely keep growing and cater for the younger audience. With growth comes with money, a very controversial topic. It seems that sponsored events has risen since I joined. Don’t get me wrong I understand that Roblox needs the money. It’s not easy to run a completely free service with free severs to host and help the devs of Roblox. I see the community arguing about this a lot, and although these sponsored hats/events are terrible you are being catered on a completely free service. (Yes, you decided that you “needed” to buy hats) Although how Roblox portrays hats and “fashion” is manipulative. (I know this is a negative connotation but I didn’t know how to say this) Yes once again Roblox needs it’s income to survive but I think it’s a bit sad swindling kids to “force” children to get that brand new hat to be admired and loved. I know that Roblox has been dealing with this but this media of robux has gone a bit far. I too spent money on robux which makes me a hypocrite for the halloween gifts. (which were very disappointing, 100% my fault for giving in)
With the removal of tickets, free to play players are left out along with future ones. I know that they said they will incorporate a way that free to play players can get completely free. As of mid December 2016 we have has no information at all. I personally think that the tickets system encourage players to play games and be active on the Roblox site because I would always log into to claim my 10 tickets everyday. Now I just log in to see my rap and fortune disappear (feelsbadman) Lets just hope we see something soon.
Since Roblox is obviously catering to the audience of younger children, this is seen as a goldmine for scammers and swindlers. No matter how many words you put in warnings and the terms of service no kid is gonna read through a bunch of legal crap. Through this a lot of underground stuff is happening through Roblox and I’ve seen it within the 4-ish years I’ve been on here. Profits through underground dealings are being made, candies are being stolen from babies. I 100% know that this is not Roblox’s fault at all it’s the user but I think that Roblox is responsible for the “safety” in terms of the service being provided.
What is the true goal of Roblox? And what is the true aim for Roblox? I remember back in the day Roblox was encouraging the community to build games with the random contests where you could win hats, and I think this was before my time but they had a system where the “coolest” person with the best outfit was on a featured page or something. I think that Roblox has lost it’s aim and it’s goal. You could argue that they lost this due to the growth and the $$$$ to run Roblox but sadly we don’t really see the spark happening.
Throughout all of this I understand that the staff at Roblox has worked very hard to create something that they are very passionate about and strive to achieve more in the future. It just seems that you can’t always go by the community. I would like to thank the staff at Roblox, forum posters, developers and the players of Roblox for reading my post.
Thank you.
TL;DR: You might as well write TL;DR below cause no one cares hehe xd (yes that was ironic)
Apologies if something didn’t make any sense because I still had the urge to write more essays after my final exams.

there is an aim but achieving aim requires some compromise

why are people posting tl;dr on this thread... i know the post is fairly lengthy, but geez there's no need to have three replies consisting of just "too long didn't read."
aside from that, i concur with you. the goal of this game now is to become a ROBUX tycoon and market, market, market on your game as much as possible to mimic what ROBLOX has been doing for many years now. i also agree with you about roblox not staying true to its roots, about being a game revolving around building and creativity. there is a lack of encouragement to really pursue this ideal of expressing your creativity, and that tight knit community of contests, circle studs and beloved tickets is long gone, and it isn't entirely a bad thing.

| Thanks for taking time to write this post. The goal is always to allow people to have a great experience playing and building with Roblox! I hope you would at least agree that the quality of games on Roblox has gotten much better (Personally I think so). That said, I'm curious to hear more about why you feel like the hats/fashions system is manipulative. |

Maybe it's not "manipulative" but maybe a "forceful encouragement." I'm not saying that this is bad but It puts players in a sense of temptation where they must get the item to be "relevant." eg. People would want to hang out with a guy with a dominus right? Im just pointing this out because in terms of Roblox there isn't much of a system for free players. I know that you guys are working hard to figure out this situation with this months free gifts. The thing is that these pricey hats outclass the free ones. This makes sense because in order to get income you would want to make these hats and portray them into the media as "cool and amazing." I remember back in 2012- 2013 Roblox had it's own advertisements about other hats which really captivated some players. Although this is only being affected by the lack of support to free to play players. Although to actually make money, as a marketing strategy you would want these free to play players spend money. My opinion could be regarded and unpopular but I still think that making really "amazing" hats at high expenses could be toned down. I respect that not everyone could have these cool and amazing hats, I just want to state from the eyes of a free to play player.
I do agree that the games has gotten better over the years. I would like to thank the studio team for their efforts in their work especially with the interfaces, a big role in human-computer interaction. The quality for games within Roblox has significantly been better and better. The standards will certainly be a lot more higher for the front page. This will continue to get better as game devs will be encouraged to get there too.
I would also like to thank you, superdcats. That a mod provided me with some feedback.

I read this gigapost and it's entire comments section, and I have to say I agree on most of these topics, and I also want to share some of my thoughts.
*Tycoon games feel like nothing but robux generators for roblox, hence why they keep them on the front page (so that the pawns can spend their robux once they get it made for them)
*If this post ever gets suppressed I have archived it, just for you!
*tl;dr is pretty lame because I read it all. I also read that webcomic with the kids and the aliens. All of it. |

I personally did some research on the "psychology" of temptation although I couldn't find anything on children. It was pretty interesting reading about the "weakening the resistance of the will." Although an idea might help solve this free to play system would to implement "quests." An example might be make 5 forum posts, or publish a game to the roblox website. This is good because this encourages content creation from players earning robux/a certain currency. This can be easily abused but people are actually contributing something to the community and being rewarded for it. This could apply to making clothes, etc. I understand that this system might not appeal the Roblox staff due to the removal of tickets from logins. Although this makes people actually contribute something to Roblox and maybe create a spark within them to create the content that Roblox is known for.
