i'm fairly certain most of the people who post on here are very familiar with what i listen to, but if not, here are my favorite bands right now:
slowdive swervedriver my bloody valentine rilo kiley pinkshinyultrablast
i've been leaning a lot more towards more 'guitar-driven' alt rock so if you have any bands like that, that'd be great also if you happen to know any newer shoegaze bands that aren't total mbv/slowdive/ride copycats then feel free to recommend them as well

american football (listen to the first album before you dismiss at as emo)
weezer's blue album is good pop rock
hold your horse is by hella (noise rock/math rock)
analphabetapolothology by cap'n jazz (weird lyrics, odd time signatures, and voice cracks. it's considered emo but it's more punk to me)
siamese dream by smashing pumpkins (alt rock, some consider the album shoegaze because of its heavy use of effects)
surfer rosa and doolittle by the pixies (KIM DEAAAAAAAL)
badmotorfinger by soundgarden (grunge/metal)
yourself or someone like you by matchbox twenty (pop rock, rob thomas has a really cool voice imo)

| White album is one of the best pop albums in years, I guess thats you're opinion but I don't think Big Star can do much better. |

| Ya I am listening to Big Star...I mean...it's ok but it seems to just be trying to hard to be classic rock. |
