No, it wasn't. Bugs, glitches and a lot of things.
The only thing better was the community, but that hasn't really changed a lot throughout the years.

The graphics and animations were less advanced
studio 1.0 was a pain to work with
but the community was pretty wholesome in early ROBLOX, and the og mods were still active
It's a trade off. |

I originally joined in 2009, 2009 the games were good, but in 2010 when trading became big was just, just, amazing.

If you joined after 2011 you have no say in whether old ROBLOX was good b/c you weren't here for old ROBLOX
it ran from 2004(alpha)-2010 |

2007-2010 was buggy/glitch-ridden, community is the same as it has always been.
2011-Pre-Price Floor 2013 was the golden oldies for me. The "we need money" updates weren't forced, except for taxes.
Post Price Floor 2013? ROBLOX has officially gone downhill. |

| Depends on if you like a tight-nit community or not. There's definitely a much larger fan base now. Functionality-wise, things are cooler now. |

For games, no. They aren't as smooth and advanced as the ones today. The problem is most of the advanced things that we can do today on ROBLOX isn't put up to as much potential as it should be.
For community, yes. I mean, it was more or less the same, but ROBLOX has just gotten huge, so next year may be a turn for the worse.

"but that hasn't really changed a lot throughout the years."
Uh, yeah it has. Very, very obviously. The community used to be one of tinkerers and breaking stuff all the time, full of ugly hacks to do things and breaking out of limitations the hard way out. We used explosions to do fire, we did decals and a lot of parts to do smoke, we did everything the hard way to get it done. Did it absolutely maul framerates? Yes it did, but it worked.
Now it's just "go play some game some high school dropout made in 2 weeks with a fairly bad game engine." There's no real fun, in that. At all. There's a lot of pressure to do things the lazy way now. If you can't brute-force 3D models into ROBLOX, then you might as well not do 3D models. If you can't brute-force IK rigging or anything fun, then you're better off not doing so.
I don't like that. But hey, I have a perfectly stable and solid game engine for Linux in the works (because NO ONE uses Windows anymore.) so I can go back to doing the fun stuff.
The other thing is I hate the 2GB memory limitation with a burning passion.
