Alright, this is probably a terrible question to ask here, but does anyone know how the Pokemon leveling system works? Links to videos or wiki pages would be greatly appreciated.
I'm pretty sure leveling has to do with EVs and IVs, which I barely understand, and also something to do with the Pokemon's personality. Do certain Pokemon require different amounts of EXP for levels? What does the Pokemon's personality actually affect? How do you know which Pokemon give what type of EVs and IVs?
I'm basically looking for a summary of the entire leveling system.
One last question. Pokemon have stats such as Attack, Special Attack, etc. How does this effect their move, and how are defensive stats effective against those stats/moves?
I've played Pokemon for many years, but I have little understanding on what really goes on behind the scene. Thanks for the help.

| I feel like this question would be better googled or asked on a pokemon focused site. |

Stats: Pokemon have stats, they affect the damage output of moves and the amount of damage they take. Self explanatory really, higher special defense means you take less damage from special attacks, higher speed than an opponent means an out-speed etc
EVs: Pokemon have EVs in each stat which peak at 252 and there are 508( I believe) EVs that can go around ie, a pokemon can have a spread of HP: 252, Atk:0, Def:252, SpAtk: 4, SpDef:0, Spd:0. This pokemon would have higher max HP and Defense values so be tanky in sorts( depending on the pokemons base stats) These can be trained onto pokemon to get your desired spread by defeating pokemon with tokens to the IVs. ( One kill of a SpAtk token will increase ur SpAk EV by 1,2 or 3 depending on the pokemon)
IVs: Predetermined values from 0- 15 in each stat work in a similar way but cant be trained- come at random
Nature: Natures affect which stats in a Pokemon are buffed and which are Decreased.
EXP: Different pokemon have different EXP rates so can vary in how much experience they need to go from 'X' level to 'Y' level
For things like base stats, what natures do etc I'd advise Serebii (a website)

But for stats like Attack and Defense, do they just subtract from one another, or is it a percentage?
