Before dynamic lighting came out (which is awesome, by the way--definitely my favorite update in a long time), builders would typically indicate a beam of light with a cone mesh. This would show the light coming down, but not being cast on something. Now, with the update, it's just the opposite--you can see the light cast, but you can't see it suspended in the air. So what if there was a variable in Lighting called dust that would simulate light reflecting off of dust motes in the air? You could set it to, say, a number between 0 and 1--0 being nothing visible, 1 being a solid wall/column whenever light comes through. This would allow the option of showing the light coming down in slivers or beams, to have the same effect as before, except better.

While I give support, you may actually be best off combining the two strategies- or alternatively you could try your hand at using Billboard GUIs.

@DaneelOlivaw: First, your username is amazing. Second, I worry that mixing the cone and the new dynamic lighting would look wonky and feel weird, and it wouldn't be as versatile either. GUIs would work a lot better, yes, but they're a lot of work for something not all that important. As a real feature I think it'd work better.

Support. Its weird how you can see the effects of the light but not the light itself.

Thanks for the support, all!
And Seraph, it basically means the ability to see the light going through the air. To see it when it's not shining on anything. |

I support, but I think this should also be implemented the lights to bounce out of fog, too.

Of course, the typical awnser would be to use a duplicating script, BodyForces, and 0.2x0.2x0.2 bricks (Or BlockMeshes).
But, of course, that would create some lag when you do it in a large scale place.
