you always have to do the problem in the parantheses first. then you gotta divide. so then you do 12X24 which is 288

Incorrect.
PEMDAS is the order you follow.
Parenthesis, Exponents, MULTIPLICATION, Division, Addition, Subtraction.
First the Parenthesis.
9 + 3 = 12
48 / 2 (12)
Next, Foil.
48 /24
2.

And they do have different priority's.
48 / 2 (9+3) is the same as
48 ___ 2(9+3)
Know, would you divide the the forty eight and two first while in its fraction form? |

I don't think multiplication and divsion have priority of each other.
Same thing with adding and subtracting. |

In a simple calculator, the answer that is given is 288.
The answer will only vary in which way you simplify. |

They do.
I want you to solve this, its the same problem just another form.
48 ------ 2(9+3)
You can't divide it without first adding the 9 and 3 and then multiplying. |

multiplication doesn't necessarily come before division.
it's whichever is first in the problem. |

its 264
48 ÷ 2 (9+3) is 288
can be wrriten as 48/2 x (11)
If it was written like this
48 ÷ (2 (9+3))
then it would be 48/24 = 2

Its pretty much the same thing.
48 ÷ (2 (9+3))
You still follow PEMDAS.
48 ÷ (2 (12)
48 ÷ (24)
48 ÷ 24
