Why did the desire for obtaining "high demand" thrive initially? Because of the desire to gain ROBUX. As the Developer's Exchange program was newly created, there was a greatly increased demand to gain ROBUX. Of course, to gain ROBUX, you'd have to sell items, and there had always been a select few items that would sell more frequently than others - those items became what are now considered "high demand". The hype for demand commenced with the sole purpose of gleaning ROBUX, which in turn would be used for three purposes: 1) Buying new limiteds and items released by ROBLOX in order to profit 2) Buying snipes and good deals 3) Utilizing the Developer's Exchange program
However, all three of these are obsolete, and therefore, so should the hype for "high demand" items.
1) As recently evinced by the past few sales, and the last several dozen limited items released, ROBLOX no longer cares for making potentially profitable limiteds. They release items with impossibly high supply, with even more daunting prices. Limited items do not profit anymore, and they do not have a short time frame in which they can be purchased. They have tens, even hundreds of thousands of stock, costing tens to hundreds of thousands of ROBUX. All the while looking hideous. Sales, what used to be a large source of profit, profit no longer. You can expect all newly released items to fail pitifully, as the team responsible for controlling the catalog at ROBLOX are inapt.
2) This category does not need much said about it - with the present automation of buying limited items used by many users, known as sniper-bots, you simply cannot buy good deals in the catalog anymore on already sold out limited items.
3) The Developer's Exchange program used to be great, and used to be utilized by many traders in this subforum, as you would be allowed to exchange ROBUX for real-life money at a rate of 100,000 ROBUX for $250 US Dollars. A few days ago, however, ROBLOX has revoked the ability of those who earn their wealth by means other than developing (clothing and games) to utilized the DevEx program, as stated in ROBLOX's Developer Exchange Terms of Service, which can be found here - https://www.roblox.com/developer-exchange/tos - under article 3.B: "Minimum of 100,000 earned ROBUX in your account. In order to protect against money laundering and comply with applicable law, we limit all Cash Outs to “earned” ROBUX. ROBUX are considered “earned” if you receive them by selling through the Services (a) virtual items (such as clothing for an avatar) that you created or (b) virtual things that are bought in or for your game or experience. This means that ROBUX acquired in other ways (e.g., receiving ROBUX as part of a membership plan or referral bonus, a purchase of ROBUX or gift card, or trading/selling virtual goods that you did not create) are not considered “earned”. We will determine how much you are eligible to Cash Out by totaling the amount of ROBUX earned (over the lifetime of the account) and subtracting the amounts previously paid out to you through DevEx;"
As now, only ROBUX earned through development can be cashed out, trading with the purpose of obtaining high demand limited items to sell them to submit a Developer's Exchange is pointless, as you're ineligible, and guaranteed to be declined.
With no reason to obtain ROBUX anymore, there is no reason to obtain high demand items, and thus should no longer be an accentuation on trading for items solely due to their high demand. Items should be traded on a basis of their value and appearance, as well as their projected future success, not just because you can get worthless ROBUX out of them.

Please refrain from commenting if you aren't going to even read the thread, or post anything intelligible. It does no good for yourself or anyone.

TL;DR: The reason people wanted high demand initially was to obtain ROBUX for sales, snipes, and DevEx, but now, there's no reason to want ROBUX anymore, so there should be no reason for targeting items to trade for solely for their demand

@Teh I'm posting this thread after having purged my account and group out of over 7 million ROBUX - they're utterly worthless now - nobody wants them.

@Mar the only reason this could fail is basically the attitude you have.

There are still ways to earn profit without devexing.

Darn i should't have sold.
But now this will cause deflation if more and more people start realizing this. Right now its only like 5% of traders |

I agree with that except for one thing you left out
With Youtubers running out of content ideas, many switched over to Roblox, hard.
Creating a brand new large wave of kids with their parents money.
What do new users who watch minecraft videos want? To look cool, aka ODer items
The demand exists for ODer items now more than ever as the demand for things that dont look good continues to drop.
I agree with what you stated but I feel like the ODer demand will always stay.
LMaD can get rid of "bad demand" aka rares and other items, but the community won't listen to them leaving a decent chunk of the trading community being split up. Those who will trade for "hat x" and the other half who won't, because it's not cool

What purpose is there to obtain ROBUX? I've already listed the main three reasons, all being obsolete. I'm not talking about a thousand or two ROBUX, I'm talking about on the order of millions. I know from firsthand experience, after spending the last 4 months spending 7-8 million ROBUX.
With a high tax of 30%, group funds, and the ever growing amount of ROBUX circulating, their value is diminishing, and their demand is nonexistent.

@YOSkater
how am i supposed to convince people that having robux is worth it?
unless roblox themselves does something to change this everything will just stay as it is. |
