specifically do you think someone should be judged mentally by numbers they get on a test
optional question no.2
do you think participation should be accounted for in grades |

i dont think grades should determine your level of intelligence, then again i may be biased as im not the best student myself. i consider myself to be slighter smarter than average, but i never turn in any work and i bomb just about every test.
as for participation, yes. without this being enforced or encouraged students will grow up to be lazy slackers |

Grades and school in general poorly represent someone's intelligence.

| Obviously not, considering most of the information we learn in school is either useless or we forget it after we leave school |

grades have no correlation to intelligence
intelligence is a measure of your pattern-recognition abilities
grades are a measure of participation, unless the coursework is too hard (typically for those with iqs under 100) |

Grades don't rate intelligence, they rate participation and hard work.

| Well a report card represents our ability to learn and preform well in projects, quizzes, tests, and experiments within 9 weeks. If we can get through all subjects in school with a good grade overall, we'll probably be good to go in real life. They count for sure |

| I think graded are a good preparation for actually living cause no one is gonna be like "yeah I know you're smart even tho you get nothing done but we'really still gonna give you this job" |

| @anony The fact that you think a few useless tests represents how far a person will go in life tells me #### ## ###### |

| Whether people say grades represent our inteligence our not, it represents participation, work, and memory. Which is very crucial to get further in life. Even if you have what's considered a low IQ, the grades matter more to me. |

| @veg Most of the information you learn in school you don't retain after you leave or is completely useless, I have learned more spending time on the Internet for 5 minutes then I have in school in the past four years. |

| @anony Why would you want to put effort into something that doesn't benefit you though? I would rather work hard on something that is actually going to help me in life. |

| @God It takes a lot of work to ace a test. And with 17 school years (being american), all those grades add up to show some kind of statistics that can show how we deal with our problems, and show effort. Tell me, what exactly do you think is needed to get along in life? |

Yeah but while the information from school is practically worthless it tests your worth ethic and strengthens it :/ |

| @God the reason they make us explore multiple subjects is because we never know what exactly we want as a career. We might want to be one thing, but maybe we're personally better off in something else and we don't know it. That's what our education system does, it helps us find what we're best at, and we have back up in case we change our mind. |

The school I go to now doesn't have grades, instead they do written evaluations and if you do poorly enough they can remove credits. They're still an accredited school, but the grades thing is a turnoff for some people. I prefer grades now because they were less arbitrary than the system I have to deal with now. |
