| Why does everyone hate any ROBLOX event that is sponsored? Just because it's sponsored doesn't mean it's bad. Island Adventures has more dislikes than likes and it's one of the best games to touch ROBLOX in years. |

I don't care if it's sponsored or not, the Halloween event back in 2014 was fun.
But the problem is that the events today are so sub-par and lazy that it either becomes forgotten or people never shut up about how bad it was.

"Sellouts always attract undue criticism."
ROBLOX is a free game, even with the money they get from people buying extra features, they can still barely pay the mods.
"In all honestly, most were mediocre. The Moana one, however, is a broken game."
It's not broken, it was only slightly glitchy during the first day or two after release just because it's hard to test a game with so many amazing features.
"it is because they tend to be a horrible cash dispenser made to inflate a robloxian employee's wallet"
Barely any sponsored events are horrible, though. I still play Island Adventures even though I got all the hats. That's what sparked this question, I'm playing it right now. |

you can't say roblox can barely pay the mods they make so much money off of the millions of NBCs getting advertisements on every screen for every page in the site |

Did I say anything about the company's expenses? You asked why people dislike sponsored games. If the service remains free, the user isn't contractually obliged to enjoy, or even think good of, every game produced to get money flowing into said service. |

That's a pretty good joke, OP. But look at the other event that's going on as well... And I thought you meant sponsored games in general, should've made the thread message "Why do people hate the Moana event so much?"

We don't hate them b/c they're sponsored.
We hate them because they have no effort put into them. |

That one is good too, I'm just using Moana as an example because it's slightly better.

"Sellouts" "Sellouts" "Sellouts""
The state of being a sellout isn't exclusive to needing money. When I said 'sellouts', it was in reference to the public's perception: Roblox is making a quick bit of cash by marketing products like Moana that people might not otherwise get exposed to. What they spend the money on, or whether they even needed it, is *irrelevant* to that sentiment. Else, everyone would come to the same conclusion that you did: companies have operating costs, and advertising a bigger company's product is easy, and risk-free. |

| So ROBLOX is introducing people to something they will most likely like through a game that they also will most likely like? Oh no! |

| That's the hitch. "Most likely". There is still room for err, and instead of trying to understand what aspects of sponsored games drives people away, you try to argue people into thinking like you do. |

| They're effortless and the sponsors are always so forced. They could have the sponsor appear in billboards and stuff, sure, but no, the events revolve entirely around the damn sponsor. |

| Trust me, I've seen this dialogue happen time and time again, spanning many different subjects. Arguing against someone will immediately put them on the defensive; the second a discussion delves into point-counterpoint is the second you've effectively lost, unless your position is objectively the superior one, which is never the case when asking a value based question like 'why do people hate X?'. Your implicit position is that people should like 'X', and none of the points either of us has made insofar are mutually incompatible. It really comes down to a matter of preference: you like Moana, and sponsored events in general, as is your position, because they can be good... I guess? You never really put any time or effort into proving your own point; if you did, I never saw it. It's like you presumed people should like something because you like something. As far as my opinion, I have none. I don't know enough about Moana specifically to say whether or not I like it, and other sponsored events were mediocre at best, in my humblest of opinions. I feel they get overhyped and underdelivered: like that Nerf one from a year ago-ish. |

If it doesn't revolve around the sponsor then the entire point is lost, hun. |

Take a look at the rest of the thread. Think about why your arguments seem to have no impact on other people's opinions. When you figure it out, get back to me. |

"If it doesn't revolve around the sponsor then the entire point is lost, hun." I get that. But every single event now is sponsored. If they're just going to keep making sponsored events over and over and over, you can't blame us for not liking them.
Sponsors don't persuade me into buying or clicking anything. Absolutely nothing does. Not even ads do. I'm sure there are others like me, and that's why we don't like these events. |

They do have non-sponsored events, the four holiday ones. If sponsored events didn't exist there would only be four events a year.

You don't have to buy anything, it's not like they ask you to buy Moana before you can play the event. |
