Let's build a Dyson sphere around the sun and end our energy crisis once and for all.
When Trump is sworn in I am legit going to make this a petition on the White House petition site.

To do so we'd have to allocate more funds to NASA and raise taxes. And the wall is a fundamental part of Trump's candidacy, it's to control immigration. The wall has nothing to do with the energy crisis other than being a convenient way to title your thread.
Furthermore the Dysonsphere, even if we did have the technology (I don't know if we do or not), would have to produce cheaper energy than that which is on earth, otherwise we'd have to add regulations to the market in order to stop the use of natural resources which Trump would not do.
But I digress. NASA is more concerned with putting humans on Mars than the energy crisis.
So no, your petition will flop, but I agree that it is a good idea. |

Solar panels get 15 watts per square foot. Each plate of the Dyson sphere is 1x10^7 km in diameter, making them 84539554356886500000 square feet in area. Assuming that the plates of the Dyson sphere are made similarly to solar panels, that would mean that one plate would give 52154326575971530000 watts of power.
The average American uses 1460 watts per day. Multiply that by 7 billion (assuming everyone uses that much power) and you have the globe using 10220000000000 watts per day.
Assuming I did my math right, the energy crisis is over forever!

| Yeah but knowing that we dont have the technology and that they say thats some type 3 civilization stuff, not in our lifetime. And what are we gonna do when a solar flare hits the dyson sphere? |

We don't have the money, but more or less my goal is to bring attention to how ridiculous the wall plan is and how we could use that money in ways that would help the world.

Why did I put "money?" I meant that we don't have the technology.
