Old Game Reviews: Silence by Venvious
Salutations, I am AwesomeFez, an amateur game reviewer. Things about me personally can be PM'd to my account. Well, I should introduce what I am doing now. This is a, I suppose series that I would like to start. And, from the title, what this series will be about it reviews of old Roblox games. So, let's begin, shall we? Oh, before I begin, there will be spoilers.
Recently I have been playing through the game Silence, it is certainly an interesting game. I'll just go over the story quick. You play as, The Detective, a nameless, faceless character. How this character is laid out is, in my opinion, a good way to structure a character. You can really have your personality wrapped around the main character. But, I digress, you start out in your apartment, nothing much to write home about. After you get out of bed, you receive a call from Hubris Hautuer, CEO of Avert Industries. As most calls like this goes, it drives the plot forward as you're told to go to the Avert Industries skyscraper. So, you get there, get to the lab and talk to Dr. Royal. Going to paraphrase the rest of the story, as I am anxious to talk about other things. You get in an VR chamber, fight robots, things start going down, more robot fights, mini boss fight, robots then more boss fights. After you finish the final boss, not going to spoil what it is, you exit the VR chamber. When I first got to this point, I literally said out loud, “Everything I know is a lie.” Anyway, you're ride home arrives in the parking garage of the building. As you enter the car, an agent of the Ministry (You'll learn about them a bit near the final boss fight.) eagerly waits for an answer, after you give it, he informs the ministry about Hubris Hautuer's activities. Phew, now we got that out of the way, onto the game play, controls and mechanics.
Now, these scripts are a bit dated, not bad though. If you've played Avert the Odds, 1 or 2, you'll know these controls well. Just a side note, in the armory, there are a few weapons from Avert the Odds 2. Very cool Easter egg when you find it. Back to controls, either way. Space jump, WASD or Arrow Keys, E to interact, R to reload, Q or F is to switch weapons, left click is fire, right click is aim and C is crouch. Very simple, like most other games, nothing really to write home about. The controls are much easier with the WASD hand placement. Now, mechanics, this should be interesting. There are in fact, a badge mechanic for finding all sort of interesting things, like the books or golden gun. This certainly gives you some gratification when you find these. Battling and gun mechanics are the same as Avert the Odds, not much difference. Though, one thing you will need to worry about is ammo and weapons. There are several different weapons to choose from, given they are provided. There's turrets, shotguns and mugs, to name a few. Each has a difference in ammo, shotguns has about 25 rounds, turrets are 200. The recoil and spray is different for each one, minigun has an insane recoil and big spray, shotguns have huge sprays. Pretty simple, I'll rattle off about the robot variants, if you don't mind. Of course, there's a basic bot, an Elite bot, then there's basically the first version of the Tracker from Avert the Odds 2, Griever, Six eye bot and then there's the third mini boss. The basic bot does melee damage, got a pistol and you'll be fine. The elite bot holds a standard issue pistol, I'd for sure take an Uzi to an elite bot fight. The, kind of, first form of the Tracker has a plasma attack and does a good deal of melee damage if you get very close. Griever is sort of a robot snake, this too, also has a plasma attack. And, if you look close, you'll notice the Griever is made of several Dominus hats. Six eye bot is a hulking bot, completed with 2 Chain guns. The third mini boss is similar to six eye bot, more chain guns though.
Now, onto the game play, shouldn't take too long. Now, the game play is pretty simple, basic shooter game. Asides from shooting, there's some parkour and a bit of stealth involved. Stealth, is not really necessary, to be totally honest, it's more of a run, get behind cover and gun kind of game. Now, running is really only needed when you need to get somewhere, otherwise you should just get behind cover and gun. Parkour is definitely more needed though, whether it be a small jump or a large jump, you'll need it. And a lot of the time you might be searching for a gun or ammo crate. These things are not super hard to find, luckily enough.
Now, I must talk a bit about the quirks in this game before I finish the review. The shots don't register all the time, health packs are pretty scarce, and the few glitches there are. Now, this is my most annoying quirk about this game, it hasn't been update for a few years. This isn't about the game but, Venvious has not been active in a few months to a year. I find it very dis-heartening that we may never get another Avert the Odds or Silence 2. Venvious was actually one of the first developers I really grew to like. I loved his works and I still do, they are great for the time they were made. I find myself going back to his games when I can't find anything else to play.
Well, here's the end, hope you enjoyed this review, first one I made. I would like constructive criticisms in the comment section. Don't forget to leave a game suggestion for me to play and review. Farewell, and good day. |

"Recently I have been playing through the game Silence, it is certainly an interesting game. I'll just go over the story quick. You play as, The Detective, a nameless, faceless character."
So, there was an update and now you play as a singular character, and not your own avatar?
Consider this |

| Well, I addressed this to an extent in the line, ". You can really have your personality wrapped around the main character." So, in that sense, yes you can play as your own avatar. |

| One point of these reviews is to get some people interested, step out of their familiar games that they play everyday. The other is to review games, simple enough. |

| Thank you Ivan, took a bit of time to make. As for your response, Dannlisa, I'm trying to get decent recording equipment. When I do I will start the video series. |
