i really don't get what your obsession with trying to downplay learning things is
first you want to find every excuse for not getting better at drawing, and now you're trying to say making a game is pointless too (when games like phantom forces are apparently paying for tuition)

its not a huge waste of time unless your only goal when doing it is to get a game on here popular and profit from it
its fun to script things even if they dont get popular (in my opinion atleast)
it also makes it easier to learn harder programming languages afterwards |

he has a point about the games though not sure if he did about the drawing but i'm just trying to relate to him here so he doesn't feel alone in this sure making a game may not be completely fruitless but it may not be worth the effort if op has to put a lot of money into them while not getting anything back
basically when i develop anything, i don't do it for money, i never have, i do it to make others happy and for some sort of fulfillment
if i were to ever create a game, money would not be the main focus, i'd be "rewarded" if i got this fulfillment in both myself and others
so making games might still be helpful even if they're not making you money and perhaps op gets fulfillment from other things rather than making games |

my codev and i are "trying" to do it for the money but we're really paying attention to detail
making a game is a lot of fun regardless if you make any money or not, especially if you have an equal commitment partner making it with you |

I could make a professionally looking game, if only I knew how to script more. I can build decently, if given the time. I know how to make appealing images. I have minor compositing knowledge, but that should be enough. I could advertise on Twitter or something, tell my friends to test my game out or something. I just need scripting to put everything together. Also time. But time is always necessary.

stop what lol. you have your marginal costs, your average total costs, and your average variable costs
earn revenue at the price youre selling gamepasses buying ad space etc that is higher than the atc then dont change anything you're doing

besides most of the big guys like tissuefoods already have their known methods for getting to the front page and earn economic profit
10k on sponsors 20k on ads

i was just talking about how i could in theory make a professional LOOKING game (not a popular game) with what i have at the moment + scripting and time if i had the time i would work on my sburb project for hours at a time but i simply don't have time
