| It's about state representation. The idea that states have their own culture and their own opinions and they should be recognized accordingly instead of marginalized by the bigger states. |

every republican vote cast in california and new york is virtually worthless under this system
wouldn't you want those votes to count?
perhaps a reasonable compromise is to make electoral votes proportional |

The electoral college needs to be improved but not abolished.
A major problem is that districts are drawn up by Republicans/Democrats who can draw them up in a way that negates the majority's votes resulting in the same party being allowed to draw up the new districts in 10 years that will have the same effect. |
