by the time the ps2 came out, other companies were already doing the same thing since the technology for dvds was starting to become widely available

Doesn't use ROM cartridges. It uses Flash carts which work completely different to how something like a famicom or mega drive cart would have worked. google pls cba to explain

even my ssb4 disc sometimes can't be read for wii u |

Buy games physically still for the switch, discs get damaged easier than cartidges so The switch's carts will be ok.
