you live in a neighborhood circling an well paved street. every house is the same- two stories, white, wooden, two minivans parked in the front, a tree or two. a group of three children, looking about nine, ride past your home on their bicycles. the lawns are well mowed, sometimes the grass is yellowing in the summer heat, other times it is filled with crunchy leaves or 1-3 inches of snow. you get on a bright yellow bus full of other kids. it takes you to your public school, a large 2-3 story institution with windows in every room facing the outdoors. it is lined with fields and paved tracks. inside, there is a slew of children around your age playing on their phones, most likely taking selfies, texting, or recording videos for ######### and ######## they carry their backpacks around with them in every class; nobody uses their lockers. the teachers show you how to do pointless tasks that you will forget within the next 5 years and then give you an overload of work to do when you get home. the school supplies you with food that is cheaply made. it is usually just scraps of old food mixed together and fed to you with glossy titles to make it seem healthful and delicious. nobody likes the lunches. nothing is good for you at the institution. after an electronic bell rings through the halls, the school day is over. sometimes you go out to the tracks or fields and practice sports. other times you go back into the yellow bus and it takes you to your suburban neighborhood. you spend most of your time on the work teachers gave you. the rest of the time is dedicated to going out with your friends or sitting in front of a television or computer screen before you go to bed, wake up, and the cycle starts again. every day is the same. us american kids lead pointless lives. we are simply a number, a statistic. we were born for the corporations, were taught to life for the corporations, and we die for the corporations. it's sad, really.
im like a shamwow, no mess |
