I'm wondering, because I think I could potentially use it as a form of anti-alt protection by looping through a player's hats and checking if they're worth more than a certain price.

Merely does it for his rap calculator, you'll probably find it in the webAPIs http://wiki.roblox.com/index.php?title=Web_APIs

It does not show me any ways I could loop through a player's hats, just a Catalog API and UserHasAsset.
Unless you're actually telling me I have to go through every item in the catalog, check their prices, and check if the player owns the item..
Oh god.

Even then it wouldn't tell you the quantity. Perhaps you have to use HttpService, or find someone else's apis that they host.

A few alternative ways to guess if a player is an alt
-- if they are friends with a certain player (i.e. the main acc) -- if their account is new-ish -- similarity in speech patterns to the main -- membership of the same clan as the main -- non-BC

I'm trying to create a script that will guess this-
"if they are friends with a certain player" > I would need a specific user to do this, which I don't..
"if their account is new-ish" > How do I check this view script? Age?
"similarity in speech patterns to the main" > Would need a specific user to compare to
"membership of the same clan as the main" > Would need a specific user to compare to
"non-BC" > I don't wanna ban NBC players from the game. Just alt's that's (POSSIBLY) intentionally created for the purpose of exploiting.

Why not just turn on FilteringEnabled?

FilteringEnabled only stops exploits to a limited extent: it's still possible to mess with remoteevents or just shutdown your server completely with certain exploits.
Also, I'm working on adding FE.
It still wouldn't solve the problem with those that own the paid exploits.

@Mr That's what I thought, I have had exploiters exploit then hack the game aka they can do that to get a copy of your game.

I thought you were in-game and knew the user you wanted to keep out. You are trying to stop alts from entering to limit exploits? What makes you certain that they won't use their mains anyway :) ?
Do what Clone said and enable FE if preventing exploits is your intent. Use DevVince's anti-exploit to patch all the loose ends, and make sure that your remoteevents are buttoned up on the server-end.

@Soy
How can I "button up" my remoteevents?
Also, can I have a link to DevVince's anti-exploit?
