Stop and think of the last time you heard nothing but silence. Nothing, but the birds chirping, deer walking, leaves blowing in the wind, etc. How long did it last? Before it was interrupted with, a noisy phone call, car driving by, plane or helicopter flying over.
The world we live in is full of noise, every time your in the car the radio is playing. When your at home or even now in restaurants the TV is on. When you walk around in the city, cars driving by, police sirens, construction workers. Every day we hear the same loud noises day after day, it happens so much that we are used to and can't live without it, and that is why I come to you with a challenge.
For one week, 30 minutes a day. Go outside, go in the woods. Away from everything and sit there, lay there, or stand there. Take a stop watch and time it. Stop the watch when an unnatural sound occurs (i.e. planes, gun shots, cars, etc.). Turn the phone off or leave it at home. Not even on vibrate (unless a very VERY important call is expected). Just get out there and get some silence. If an unnatural noise occurs every 8-12 minutes. Go inside, create an empty, sound proof room, and ask everyone in your house to not interrupt you for 30 minutes. Do nothing, but enjoy the silence.
Your hearing will last longer. You will realize things. Do this for a while and you will become tired of noise. Trust me, this is good for you. Try it.
