Because I actually suffer from OCD and it's not just "everything has to be perfect" or related to cleanliness, there are also superstitions, compulsions, obsessions, intrusive thoughts and I suffer through all of it, yet I see people saying "I'm soooo OCD" whenever they like having something clean
Like if they actually knew what it was and what kind of effect it has on people then they probably wouldn't be making all of these jokes and stereotypes
It's gotten to the point where it affects my learning since I spend more time focusing on fighting my intrusive thoughts (which is actually the most common symptom) and I find it hard to count because an intrusive thought pops up and distracts me, at this point I get like 3 intrusive thoughts per second and they're so cold, vile and murderous and wish death upon people I care about
That's just a glimpse of what OCD really is so seeing all these stereotypes honestly trigger me

I was once on the bus and there were these annoying teenagers making OCD stereotypes and one was like
"OCD stands for Obsessive Cleaning Disorder"
I was so tempted to educate their feeble minds but I dropped it

I have to chomp down on my teeth
I use to do everything in fives
I use to think I was the only person in the world having to go through this |

| @Emily I don't mean you just in general Even real life friends do this because they're full of ignorance and don't know what it really is One of them even said "you don't have #### when I brought up that I thought I may have it before I even brought up the symptoms and that's because she just bases it on the stereotype and I don't act like a clean freak 24/7 Later the same day she was like "I'm so ### when it comes to cleaning" I was honestly so ###### off I think the most annoying ### joke is "it's ### since everything has to be in order" ############ ############ ######## alt- -Originally a 2009'er- -Add 21,950 posts to postcount from all of my mains- |

I've gotten a bit better
I make myself not count each foot strop I take Or how much bites I've eaten Etc. Because I use to have to do everything in fives
I use to believe in knocking on wood so I would always do it

@Oreo
Tbh I get the fives thing
I always make sure my thoughts are in threes, it's really confusing and hard to explain
Also my volume has to either be in multiples or 3, 5, max volume or line up with the shape of the speaker button somehow

"it cant posibly be as bad as your making it seem. your acting like its the worst disorder to exist."
it's not something trivial and petty like you make it out to be, people suffer from this disorder also it's really pointless and achieves nothing to rank mental disorders by how much worse they are than others, facts are that all mental disorders are bad and they hurt :( (no, people with mental disorders aren't bad, it's the mental disorders themselves that are bad) |

I honestly agree with sinii 100%, he brings up a good point
@Oreo
It's nice to know we aren't alone in this :)
@Kool
All I can say is prepare for the worst
When mine first manifested it was just a few compulsions and no intrusive thoughts
About a year later the intrusive thoughts began but I had a bit of control over them, it was only like a few per minute or so and I could easily dismiss them
Over time they got worse and worse and now they're so bad I have to stop talking to deal with them and they make life harder for me

| My sister has it as well, and it greatly effects her life, I see people make jokes about it and it kinda makes me mad. My sister counts her bites and other things in fours, inhales have to be 4 seconds, same with exhales It's effected all of my family like whenever she sets the table she usually puts 2 of each silverware, she's learned coping methods but still has problems |

When I was younger I thought I was the weirdest person even
I came up with a name for it
I called it "evenasatology" (omg biggest secret ever)
Because I had to do everything in even numbers
And right now at school I can't wear gray shirt with blue pants because I get paranoid and I get bad thoughts that something bad will happen because something bad happened when I wore that outfit before |
