Something cannot come from nothing, and there's no reason to believe that it could. Even the laws of physics themselves must have had an origin, as they often decompose in extreme environments.
Nothing > Nothing > Nothing > Nothing
Yet, we have something.
It makes sense to believe in
Something > Something > Something > Something
as opposed to
Nothing > Nothing > Something
It's also worth noting that studies show that the only people truly capable of disbelief in God are the severely autistic.
For example, you would probably have difficulty or at least some discomfort if you prayed to God to drown someone you love.
Moreover, people who believe in God tend to be happier than those who don't, so from a pure atheistic perspective, there's literally no reason not to believe in him. Not to mention the simple fact that life is totally meaningless if he doesn't exist.
10-17-2016 04:03 PM That's another thing, the existence of matter itself is anomalous. Scientists still aren't sure why there was more matter than antimatter which allowed anything to exist in the first place.
The reality is that we, at present, are either the product of an unbelievable series of coincidences, the formation of the universe when by rights there should be nothing,
the formation of matter when by rights it should been created with antimatter in equal parts,
the formation of the first cells when by rights they should never have existed,
and the formation of higher intelligence despite the fact that there's no real evolutionary advantageous to do so until you reach a certain threshold, especially when compared to other mutations such as stronger muscles.
You could, I suppose, simply believe that these are simply an incredible series of coincidences, or that someone made them happen.

"if all cells came from previous cells, how were the first cells formed?"
literally learned about this in biology
cells can no longer be created because our atmosphere as it stands is an oxidizing atmosphere due to the high presence of reactive O2. oxygen species tend to react with other molecules, resulting in the breakdown of complex organic molecules. in the past, there was a huge lack of O2 resulting in a reducing atmosphere which allowed for complex molecules to form as predicted in the miller-urey experiment. this is what became the basis for life.
cells can only come from pre-existing cells TODAY due to the oxidizing atmosphere we live in, in the past this was not a true postulate.
phospholipids, what makes up our cells, naturally are at a lower energy configuration when they form in double layer spheres due to minimal repulsive forces. over time everything just evolved. theres a reason evolution is based off of random mutations, not controlled mutations. |

Yes, but how did they pick it up is the million dollar question. They would be making IQ gains of .01 per generation, especially when compared to muscle gains which are usually much more obvious and more relevant, there's no reason to believe that they would've selected for it, unless we were lucky enough to have the intelligence gene be bound to something else, maybe how shapely a body is or something.
That being said, with the other things, with the formation of life, and especially the fact that matter and anti-matter were created in unequal amounts, you're beyond the realm of coincidence and may as well be in the realm of miracles, as it's mathematically impossible for that to have occurred unless there's a lot of anti-matter hiding in the universe somewhere. |

| Just as a heads up, if you feel the following statement can be refuted, please PM me because I really hate discussing religion on the forums. |

10-19-2016 07:11 AM I'm 18, and in my free time I play ROBLOX when I'm not doing stuff for college. Just because you get older doesn't mean you HAVE to find new things to do, if you enjoy doing something then do it.
Myself, I just needed a stress reliever for when my irl friends can't hangout/when I'm really bored. |

**No, I never actually retired.**
I'll try keep it short.
Over the past three years I've met some amazing people. I've had a great laugh, well most of the time, and I've been one of the most edgiest Vaktovians going.(sorry not sorry) I've been inactive/ill for over a year now , and I see no point in continuously trying to return when college/work takes up all my time now along with social life etc. So I might as well officially retire. |
