New thread because the old one got full and confusing. https://forum.roblox.com/Forum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=200148660
Ask me anything about my job!
It's been about three years with this job. I can inform you on the course and the training and even some of my calls. I cannot give you names, and I cannot give you detailed locations. First job since I graduated high school. |

99% of the time I don't know what happens after calls, my job is just to send help. I guess getting called and then hearing screaming as the call ends. Obviously things did not end well for the caller. |

If this is legit, how do you handle true desperation in peoples voices if their lives are at stake (burglary etc) and/or if a loved one of them is seeiously injured/close to death (Ambulance, firefighters)?
It seems like an unbearable task to me.
Mad respect for you, if this is legit. |

Well. One time in particular I remember a woman telling me that her house is on fire and that her cat was in there. She was old, her cat was basically her only friend. She got out with her other cat and she just cried. She was really upset. I sent help, and police officers, because she said she thinks someone caused the fire. She waited in a car. I calmed her down by asking her questions about her car, her grandchildren, and other things. She stopped crying and I actually said something that made her laugh. This was actually one of my first calls. She said something like "At least I'm not so cold anymore" and we laughed.
Making light out of the situation is important, as well as staying calm People who have themselves or their relatives dying always blame it on me if help doesn't arrive fast enough. I can only do so much :/. |

The only real way of distracting people is by telling them they're going to be fine, asking irrelevant questions, and so on. People don't understand that asking "Do you like music?" is way better to hear than "Do you think you're going to die?". Look at the YouTube comments of 911 calls. |

Have you ever personally had to call emergency services? If so, for what reason? (If you don't mind sharing) If you did, was it weird hearing your colleague on the line?

Oh my God! I saw a car accident one time. The odds of being connected to the same office as yours are really small. I called and ended up talking to my collegue =). It was funny because I helped her take notes and gave her everything I knew she needed. No one was injured, by the way. |

| Yes. It's usually the same. One time a mother's water broke but she was sitting down and in too much pain to get up. She called me and I was ## ### ##### with her, basically hearing a woman #### ###### Her boyfriend left her months before. Fire department broke down her door and brought her to the hospital. It was nice hearing her talk to her baby ## ### ###### (baby was still in the ####### by the way). It was a nice call because I knew she was going to get help fast and she knew what information to give me. |

So many hashed out words. I'm sure you get what I said. Tell me if you don't. I had a mother die on the phone one time too. She fell down the stairs. She was supposed to stay in her apartment but she was freaking out. Always listen to your dispatcher. You can die if you don't. |

I'm sure you've been asked this multiple times, but how often do you hear someone die while on the line? That would really stick with me, and personally I'd always feel guilty - like there has to have been something I could have done to save them
