| Hi! I want to learn LUA to create games with my friends, and I'm already practicing Haskell98 so I know some things. But for you scripters, how did you learn, and what's your recommended source? Thanks for reading. |

I learned programming with C/C++, but with that knowledge it was easy to switch over to java and Lua.
Its all about understanding the how things like variables, functions, loops, and the rest work and you will find that many languages of that paradigm are fairly similar.
I can't speak for learning sources on Lua other than the documentation, but that might not be newbie friendly. But once you've grasped the basics you'll be needing it for sure. |

| If either of you have any questions or need help with understanding Lua, I might be able to help you out. Just add me if you're interested. |

| I would advise a tutorial on MS Small Basic to get you used to programming in a simple environment, and just play around on ROBLOX - that's how I've learnt. |

That's true, but Small Basic and Lua are extremely similar (other than functions) in the logic and skills behind them, and Small Basic is probably easier to get started with then ROBLOX Lua.
But each to his own :) |
