A lawless environment won't last long, either due to invasion as there's no government to defend the population, or by someone succeeding at installing a new government.
Never mind the fact that even if a government-free environment were to last, it wouldn't be fun, as infrastructure would go away without private funding and there would be far less of a reason to not do bad things. |

The point of an anarchist society is not that it would be without rules, per se, but rather with everyone being equal and no authority to enslave us. Take a look at the Free Territory, the people fight off any offenders pretty well on their own, without having laws or a government.

That sounds like communism, with the whole "everyone is equal and no authority is around to do bad things to us" thing.

In anarcho-communism, the point of anarchism is to abolish the state, and the point of communism is to abolish class, more or less. These two work hand in hand.

A Quick read called tom sawyer economics puts it into perspective
Did you know there are a few towns in the USA without municipal governments?
People all pitch in, pool money together to pay for the town stop light.
If someone sees a pot hole, he fills it himself.
--------
That said I do believe in minimal gov't, such as police, fire, and military.
All the other stuff can and was taken care of by people in the past.
Today, gov't is a giant parasite.

CV10K, minimal government would be called minarchy. The more you know.
But as I was saying, both anarchism and communism strive to remove hierarchies so that everyone has equal power. |

I still don't see any major differences between anarchism and communism besides how they're seen in popular culture.

Like I said, they work hand in hand. Most modern communists are also anarchists and vice versa. There are, however, "anarcho-capitalists" and stalinists. However I feel like groups like those sort of miss the point of anarchism and/or communism.

"CV10K, minimal government would be called minarchy. The more you know."
Noted - and I generally refer to it as minimal gov't b/c I find its simpler for people to understand.
"But as I was saying, both anarchism and communism strive to remove hierarchies so that everyone has equal power."
I wasn't responding to you in the other post, but indeed, both at extreme opposites sharing the same trait.
One is legalized tyranny, and the sharing of misery where removing incentive generates inefficiency, starvation and low living standards.
The other is subject to tyranny, but by design creates strong self-reliant people who can bring themselves out of poverty. It also creates more generous people. It ultimately makes Better people.

Anarchism and communism are not extreme opposites. On the political spectrum, communism is left, and anarchism is down. They exist on different axes here.

I knew my logic came from somewhere over the years, and the mistake I made was reading a line graph of the spectrum and taking it as linear.
If you look up 'political spectrum on a line graph' you'll see what I meant
Anarchy on the far right (of course lower)
Communism 2nd last from the far left (on the upper)

Of course, I can also level criticisms against communism - namely that it, too, doesn't work. And it has a pretty long history of people trying to make a communist state and... causing bad things.

Both of those only lasted three years. On the scale of nations, that's not very long at all.
