Last night and early this morning the storm was small and looked like it blew itself out on Florida, but since it crossed into the wind current it has exploded in size and has sustained 100mph winds and gusts of 150.

Also what the last one is showing isn't the full size.
That's just from one site's scans, it's much bigger than it looks. |

Combination of a poorly timed ERC, increased shear, land interaction and last minute shift East on the track all combined to spare Florida what looked to be a devastating landfall.
The southern half of the hurricane is completely drying out and the rain shield is spreading northwest, this is going to be more of a Category 2.......

| Southern half is dying off because it's losing it's connection to the warm, wet, caribbean winds which it was pulling air from and. |

Which is why the entire northern area has exploded in size and force.
However you're right about it most likely becoming cat. 2 from how it's looking like the eye isn't even rotating the thing anymore which means the wind stream from the coast has torn it's rotation apart. |
