You should endeavour to begin your message with your radio identification (especially if you are beginning a conversation). Incident Grades: A/HP - Visual warning equipment advised; immediate response. Target time: 60 seconds B/MP - Visual warning equipment advised if driver believes police are needed urgently; significant/routine response. Target time: 4 minutes C/LP - Visual warning equipment not required; scheduled appointments; no target time
Response Grades: Grade 1 - Emergency Response(Respond immediately with lights and sirens) : Danger to life, Use or immediate threat of use, of violence. Serious injury to a person and/or serious damage to property. The crime is, or likely to be serious, and in progress. Target response time: 10 minutes max.
Grade 2 - Priority Response (Respond with blue lights and sirens when you have the chance to respond) : There is a genuine concern for somebody's safety, an offender has been detained, a witness or other evidence is likely to be lost, at an RTC there are injuries or a serious collision, A person involved is upset or vulnerable, Hate crime. Target response time: 20 Minutes max.
Grade 3 - Schedualed Response (Respond following normal road laws, no blue lights and sirens): The response time is not critical in apprehending offenders (Basically the police know the offender so can arrest him in their own time). The matter is service-orientated and a better quality of initial police action can be taken if it is dealt with by: a pre-arranged police response by a Police Officer or by other appropriate resource or attendance at a police clinic or surgery. Target response time: Must be within 40 minutes of initial contact.
Grade 4 - Resolution without deployment (No need to respond but if you do its no blue lights, following all road laws): Resolution without deployment is where the situation can be handled over the phone or by the other service personnel such as the council or transport companies. Targer response time: If you are called out for it, your response time target is within 60 minutes of initial contact.
