how do I get into:
Stanford University of Washington MIT Caltech literally anything with a very very very good CS program
with a 3.1 GPA, and not many notable extracurriculars, just a fairly large github profile and lotsssss of code.

| Unless you have some really awesome Silicon-valley level coding I don't think it's possible with that GPA. |

Write a really awesome essay that explains why you have a 3.1 GPA, and make a strong case that because of your coding skills you will contribute to the community and be able to keep up with classes.
Honestly seeing that you're at like a 1430/1600 I don't think it's possible, especially if you're white. |

Even if you do not initially get accepted into any of those colleges, go to a good Community College with the most transferable credits as possible, with a good program that you want to go into.
That way, if you didn't do so well in High School, you can make up for it at a Community College, as you won't only be saving money, you can transfer and colleges will look more closely at your progress since High School to College.
It also helps that if you do well in college, they'd be more open to accepting you as well.
Good luck. |

I'd rather try to avoid wasting a couple years on an AA...

Especially when the CS program at both of the community colleges here is... well,... you know.
"This is a class. This is a pointer. This is a program. This is RAM!"
ugh

| It's only 2 years. You can go to a strong local or state college for 2 years then transfer. |

You cant get into any ivy-league school with a 3.1. Have you looked into state-schools? Its not hard to find good CS programs...

I don't think I can endure 2 years of mind numbing boredom.... that's about as hard as asking me to come up with a complete, industry-grade C++ compiler in 2 weeks. Not going to happen.
Maybe in 2 years I can do that. 2 weeks? No way.

look for a polytechnic school
or really even if the classes at the cc are mediocre thats your chance to study and go beyond what the classes are teaching and do projects while at home
if you start building up knowledge+projects now you'll look a lot better to not only the schools you listed, but employers later on

Doing community right now, I spend max an hour and 20 minutes at my college (Monday-Thursday). It's made my schedule a lot more flexible, but then again I'm doing split online and campus. However, putting all three of my online classes work together only takes an hour.

I have WSU and U Dub. Everything else... no way I have any chance.
Latter is well... no way I'm getting in without knocking the application out of the park. WSU... I'm worried about connections if I end up going there. MSFT doesn't want me and everyone else doesn't want me,
If I went to WSU, and if it goes *exactly* as I've been warned - I'd just end up on the exact same position I am now anyway - refusing to cooperate with anyone - it doesn't matter if it's Linus or if it's Wozniak, or if it's some guy I know personally. I am not working with you, and I will open source (open source, not "free" or "liberate".) my software. No.
I guess there's always constantly knocking on Google's door. Eh........

unless you can bring up your SAT/ACT and write a killer essay and some really good extra curricular, you have no chance.
Go to a local state uni/comm college if you want to save money, build yourself a nice portfolio with projects you've done, and transfer. |
