SECTION I - STRUCTURE a) Upon passage of this resolution, the Senate Judiciary Committee shall henceforth be structured as follows: Chairman - Elected by the Majority Party and a member of the Majority Party Vice Chairman - Elected by the Minority Party and a member of the Minority Party Ranking member - Appointed by the Chairman and a member of the Majority Party Majority Member - Appointed by the Chairman and a member of the Majority Party Majority Member - Appointed by the Chairman and a member of the Majority Party Minority Member - Appointed by the Vice Chairman and a member of the Majority Party Minority Member - Appointed by the Vice Chairman and a member of the Majority Party Overseer - President Pro Tempore (placed at the discretion of the committee, has no vote)
SECTION II - TENURE a) Upon passage of this resolution, the members therein the Senate Judiciary Committee shall serve for a total tenure of two months before the Federal Elections Commission shall immediately host new elections. There is no maximum term limit for service on the Committee.
b) Elections for the Chairman and Vice Chairman positions of the Senate Judiciary Committee shall take place on a public forum vote and last for a total of twenty-four (24) hours before they will automatically be closed.
c) The aforestated public forum must be continuously kept on the shout of the Congress group pertaining the group ID number of se############################################################################################################################################
SECTION III - AUTHORITY a) Therein the Senate Judiciary Committee shall be the authority to vote on the following positions prior to them being taken to the Senate floor for a final vote: Executive Department of Justice Nominations (nominations for Assistant Attorney General and higher, includes nominations for District Attorneys) Supreme Court Justice Nominations Federal Judge Nominations
b) Each and every nominee shall be entitled to a hearing in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee, upon a nominee filing a request for a hearing to the Committee, they will not be voted on until the hearing has concluded. (all members are not forced to be present at the hearing, however a minimum of three must attend and a transcript of the hearing must be made available to all those on the Committee)
c) If a nominee fails in the Senate Judiciary Committee vote, their nomination will not move forward to the Senate floor for a final vote and their nomination will fail. (the nominee may be renominated to the Senate Judiciary Committee a minimum of one week later and the process will start over)
SECTION IV - REMOVAL OF A MEMBER a) Any member of the Senate Judiciary Committee may be removed from the Committee with two-thirds of the total number of members in concurrence.
b) Any person appointed or elected to serve in place of a removed member will only serve for the remainder of that member’s term.
SECTION V - MOTIONS a) Each and every member in the Senate Judiciary Committee shall have the authority to create motions, a motion will count as passed once a majority have voted in favor of the motion.
SECTION VI - RESOLUTIONS CONCERNING THE COMMITTEE a) No resolution affecting the Senate Judiciary Committee in any way shall pass the Senate unless a majority of the Committee members are in concurrence for such a change.
b) Any resolutions conflicting with this resolution are hereby repealed.
