There are 36 different characters allowed, with a limit of 20 characters per name.
36^20 = (1.33675)(10^31)
Now, I COULD possibly graph the accelerated rate of usernames based on accounts made per day on, say, September 1st of each year starting in 2006, but it's 4 am and I don't feel like digging for that data. |

accounts are made at a rate of 5 in 1 second (assuming this rate doesn't change in the future) 1 billion seconds =~ 31 years 1.33675*10^31 / 5 = 2.6735*10^30 2.6735*10^30 / 1*10^9 = 2.6735*10^21 * 31 =~ 8.28785*10^22
it would take 8 with 22 zeroes of years
but im bad at math i may have made some mistake

Okay I went through the tedious task of calculating how many CUMULATIVE accounts were made up to a fixed date. There's definitely a slight margin for error as I don't go with exact time, just the exact date.
2006 - 1545 2007 - 49500 2008 - 875500 2009 - 4203945 2010 - 9763945 2011 - 19323955 2012 - 31323955 2013 - 47313955 2014 - 67262955 2015 - 91862955 2016 - 153762955
It appears to be an exponential increase. I'm going to calculate how long it would take to reach (1.33675)(10^31). |

Alright, so, through some calculator wizardy, the least squares regression equation (i.e. slope prediction) is:
y=3.6568+(0.0000006054)x
Where y is the number of years since before the first data point at <2006 (e.g. 2006 would correspond to "1" in the data set) while x is the number of cumulative accounts at that date at that year.
Now, we know our x: (1.33675)(10^31)
Thus, we just plug in:
y=3.6568+(0.00000006054)((1.33675)(10^31)) y=3.6568+(8.0929)(10^24) y=~809,290,000,000,000,000,000,000 years, aka the year 80,929,000,000,000,000,000,002,005.
So, yes, you were actually right, though you had an underestimate.
There's most definitely error but this is the best I can do at 4:40 in the morning.
You can also use this to predict how many accounts there will be at a certain year if you want. Like, 2025? Subtract 2005 from it first to get 20, and then:
20=3.6568+(0.00000006054)x x=~330,360,088 accounts on August 18th, 2025
Math is cool! |

"EXcellent, if they ever have a maths competition through the forums, I'm electing you as my representative." I'm honored.
"oh well i didnt take the rise in accounts per year in consideration o_O" Yeah, that's important. If it was a linear increase, your method would have worked, but it's a definite exponential increase. Imagine straight line versus a rapidly curving upward line. |

"yeah oh well i just couldnt imagine ppl creating accounts on roblox at a much higher rate than they are doing now thats why" It probably would have been more accurate had I not done cumulative totals and instead went with number of accounts created in a one year period, for every year.
Buuuut I already did enough tedious math so I'm not doing that. |
