First time in awhile.
I'm used to it but this one was actually horrifiing. I had my eyes closed but had this hallucination where this "static" popped up.
Like a TV. And it kept switching in and off. And no, the tv wasn't on. |

>sleep paralysis is terrifying
Got that right. I'm used to it now but it isn't a pleasant feeling. I'm considering opening my eyes for the first time and see what happens. Even though it might be the worst decision I'll ever make
Oh and made a mistake in the op horrifying**** |

yes all anxiety counts
anxiety disorders are said to increase sleep paralysis (as well as sleeping on your back)

Yeah that's how I had the episode. Accidentally slept on my back and paid for it.
Dude I was legitimately horrified. |

i sleep on my back every night and never had any episodes of sleep paralysis but yeah for people prone to it, sleeping on your back increases your chances of getting one

>what would happen if you open your eyes
from wikipedia:
"When it occurs upon awakening, the person becomes aware before the REM cycle is complete, and it is called hypnopompic or postdormital.[4] The paralysis can last from several seconds to several minutes, with some rare cases being hours, "by which the individual may experience panic symptoms"[5] (described below). As the correlation with REM sleep suggests, the paralysis is not complete: use of EOG traces shows that eye movement is still possible during such episodes; however, the individual experiencing sleep paralysis is unable to speak.[6]
Visions and hearing a demonic voice when resistance is attempted are symptoms commonly experienced during episodes of sleep paralysis. Some scientists have proposed this condition as an explanation for reports of ghost parasites and alien visits.[7][8] There are three main types of these visions that can be linked to pathologic neurophysiology: the belief that there is an intruder in the room, the incubus, and vestibular motor sensations."

It started when I was like 12. opening your eyes will cause horrible vivid hallucinations. And since your brain is still in sleep state, you'll think it's real.
The first time I went through it. I thought I was dying. |

"anxiety disorders are said to increase sleep paralysis (as well as sleeping on your back)"
i have anxiety and sleep on my back but i've only ever had one episode of sleep paralysis in my life, and it might not have even been sleep paralysis, i'm just making that assumption based off of what i've learned of it.

some people are more prone to it than others obviously, just cause you have some of the things that may cause it doesn't mean you'll automatically get it

the only way to achieve sleep paralysis is to not move a muscle for at least 20-25 mins
then you cannot move
