Rules, Orders and Regulations in the Army of the Potomac.
Handout for the Ranks.
Part I - Rules and Regulations.
1. Behaviour
1.1 General Behaviour
The AotP is a renowned groupin the Civil War Community. Under our motto “hard drill, high skill” we have made ourselves a name for outstanding discipline and order. We expect nothing less than this of everyone in the Regiment. Members of AotP always act with honour and as gentlemen, whatever rank one has. Whether it is at an official event or in public you are always supposed to represent the Army of the Potomac. in the best possible way. Stand for what we fight for, help and honour our friends and respect your enemy.
1.2 Superiors
Your superiors are to be respected at any situation whether it’s a CO or NCO. The Command of the most senior Commander is to be followed – means the highest ranking officer’s word is law. Only officers and NCO’s are allowed to advise members on misbehaviour, meaning that none of whom are in the ranks are allowed to punish a lower ranking ranker for incorrect behaviour. Any punishment is to be decided by the commander.
2. Speaking
Also apart from events you can join the TeamSpeak whenever you want and meet other members. Feel free to join all non-private rooms.
2.1 Permission to Speak “PTS”
At an Event you will only talk when ordered to do so, or after requesting PTS. To request permission to speak, just say “PTS” at a moment when no one is speaking. If your request isn’t answered by a CO or NCO you wait a reasonable time and then ask again. If you are not answered now, do not ask again. When your PTS gets granted, speak crisply what you have to say. Things like “There is Cav to our left”, or “They are retreating!” are not your concern, as the commander always has the overview on the battlefield and such speaking only distracts men and drill.
NOTE: PTS also applies both voice, and text communication such as server typing.
NOTE: During a charge PTS is not active for voice communication
2.2 Speaking to a superior
Whenever you speak to a superior at an event you have to pay attention to the following:
NCO’s are always addressed by their Rank.
Example:”14 men ready at arms Sergeant!”
CO’s are always addressed as “Sir”, whatever Rank they have.
Example: “Yes Sir, immediately Sir!” ;
