I think metal's metal fanbase is horrible. Barely 20% is not a metalhead who harasses you for not liking their favorite music. |

| All fanbases have there bad apples, but I think most of every fanbase is actually pretty cool because most people don't go too far with it. |

metal, classic rock, and pop-punk
there are some metal fans out there that are pretty cool and whatnot but they tend to be overshadowed by all of the metalheads that only listen to metal and get into constant slapfights over what overly specific subgenre a band falls under
classic rock fans are just pretentious; they're either adults who refuse to listen to new music because "it's not as good as it was in the olden days!!!" or thirteen year olds that think they're really cool and edgy for listening to anything other than modern, mainstream pop music
pop-punk fans are usually whiny emo kids who take themselves and their music far too seriously (even though pop-punk wasn't even originally that serious of a genre and i honestly don't know why all of these emo kids have hijacked it and tried to make it all serious and what have you) |

yeah pop punk definitely has the worst fanbase most of the people in that genre are just as sangy said angsty emo kids who don't realize that the genre wasn't supposed to be serious but turned it into something generic and bland
also all pop punk singers basically suck punk singers suck too tho, most of them anyways |

Rap - All the rap fans i know are pushy trying to shove their music down my throat.
Rock - As a rock fan its safe to say we suck. We all tend to be pushy or once were, If you don't like "band 1" your horrible!!11!!!
Metalcore - i am a big fan of metal core. But i can't tell you how many times i've seen those comments like "This relates so closely to my 5naff fanficiton about fraddy adn fuxy" or "Ohhmmgggggg iSs dthis soung aboutt undertalee???""

I pretty much agree with Slow, but I would have to say emo, pop-punk and classic rock for mine. I don't have an issue with metalheads. For the most part, they're okay. I mean sure, you'll always find that one guy who constantly feels the need to defend metal even when the situation doesn't call for it, but that's usually someone who either just started listening to metal or doesn't listen to any metal band who isn't Avenged Sevenfold, Five Finger Death Punch, Metallica, Volbeat (which is debatable) and Black Sabbath.
Emo has a bad wrap because of their fanbase. In reality, emo music isn't any different from alternative aside from some slight guitar techniques and vocal differences, but the fanbase decided to just screw it over. I'm not saying it was the best genre in the world, but I liked it's blend of hardcore punk and alternative.
Pop-punk is kind of obvious, but it really was never a genre until the 90's. Pop-punk used to be just that: popular punk bands. Why it became a genre is beyond me, but the sheer fact the fanbase doesn't even take itself seriously proves my point as is. Occasionally, you'll find a pop-punk band that leans way more towards punk, but there's few and far between.
Classic rock within itself is shifty, but I typically despise it's fanbase due to all of them collectively viewing themselves as "opinionated" when in reality, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin didn't do that much to benefit rock as a whole. They just so happened to be at the right place at the right time to take all of the credit. Most classic rock stations don't even play actual bands who benefited rock. The classic rock station where I am never plays: The Ramones, Talking Heads, Alice Cooper, The Grateful Dead, or Black Sabbath. I am not even a huge fan of all of those bands (except for Alice Cooper, in which case I am a massive fan), but they all did more for rock as a whole than AC/DC, Steve Miller, Tom Petty and Def Leppard.
Also, can someone explain to me what Tom Petty did for rock? A lot of people claim he helped out with alternative, but anyone with common sense knows that alternative rock was brought to life during the 1970's punk scene at CBGB. |
