Intertia is a thing in virtually all physics engine. Velocity will not change unless acted on elsewhere (or if you manually change it, but that's kinda like "playing god")
If you shoot a part in a given direction, it'd theoretically go on forever. Get rid of gravity (or negate the effects) and you will see that it does virtually go on forever. The velocity remains constant until it collides with something or gravity pulls it down. |
