I've decided to buy a sport bike (like Kawasaki, Ducati, etc.) and I want to talk to as many people as possible that know their stuff and make an informed decision before I do.
I'm going to buy used of course because they're cheaper. And I'm sure I'll need to get a separate license to operate it on the road. |

Buy the most expensive bike for the best bike. I've done it before, several times. It works!

| acceleration was great, breaking was nice and easy, didn't break as hard. and it accelerates fast, really smoothly like i said. i also like the weight distribution of the bike if that makes sense, easier to handle than the other 2 bikes i rode. I didn't ride them for very long, maybe 5-10 minutes each but that's what I took from them. really want to get one myself. |

I don't want anything too fast though I don't want to kill myself it's not for everyday use, just on occasional joyrides to places 10-20 minutes away
no freeways

you could get a used ninja 250/300 for pretty cheap and they are both great beginner bikes. still can be fun after you get out of the beginner stage too. you don't want some massive engine spaceship right away. get used to riding on something a little lower powered.
also i highly recommend reading up/watching tutorials on bike care and maintenance. if you buy used you will probably have to do some tuning and tlc. you could always take it to a shop but it's gonna cost wayyyy more. |

alright so ninja 250r is what I should be going for? cool
I really have zero time in my life to study up on all that stuff right now but i'll jump on it during winter break
trying to have everything done by the end of next summer I'm pretty sure I need a motorcycle license to drive one |

the suspension isn't the greatest and you'll prob want to upgrade the seat but the riding position is comfortable and the maneuverability and acceleration is nice like whats his face said
as for getting your license you take a test and then a riding test and you should be good to go. gear is expensive though, so think about budgeting that. you don't want to skimp on that |

here if you're under 18 you have to take the basic riding course. idk about where you live but even if you don't have to do it i highly recommend taking it. they teach you a lot of on and off bike knowledge and provide motorcycles to test movements and stuff on. it should be about a 15-16 hour course. get your permit (knowledge and vision), take and pass the course, and then you can use the waiver they give you to get your motorcycle endorsement.
for gear i'd say just look at some beginner gear guides. you're gonna want to try on everything though, especially helmets. make sure the helmet you buy is certified. you could check craigslist or like a local shop for used gear too. you'll probably be looking at around 600-800 dollars |
