What is the final moment?
Afore the credits roll, they present the Hero - the main protagonist, who we've watched with baited breath overcome every obstacle in his way, cleverly solve puzzles and defy death as he soldiers on towards the finish, to either save the princess - or fell the beast.
We get to see it all... Or do we?
We never truly get to know what the final moment - the final thought was. What is it that they said, what did they think? What strategy did they create, did they doubt themselves, was there any hesitation? We never truly know.
Sure, some movies and books peer into the mind of the main protagonist, trying to let you know their thoughts - but still, they never let you know it all. What about the searin burns they've just received, how about the large gash across their face? What do they think about their arm missing? Their loved ones surrounding them, or their friends wishing them their last goodbye before being given the sweet kiss of death.
What went through their mind, as it all came to a close?
... I was bored, felt like writing. Sorry. |

I was playing Dragons Dogma, and finally figured out a strategy on how to beat the offline dragon, and it was troubling me all week - making me rage, simply quit and pace to try and calm myself to find something else to do, maybe kill those goblins over there.
I finally figured it out, and I was excited - my heart raced at the thought of finally delivering that killing blow, the one strike to end it all - my victory phrase was on the tip of my tongue as I nocked the arrow, the most powerful one, expensive arrow in the game.
I was right about to say it.
And I missed.
Of course, I filled the beast in a last ditch attempt by climbing it and attacking the last heart with my sword, but still - I was so prepared to gloat on how awesome my first victory was, and it never came to fruition - instead my first phrase was "Oh come on! How did I miss?!"
