in dutch we call the netherlands "nederland" and dutch people "nederlanders" and the language we call "nederlands"

| english speakers called people from the netherlands dutch by accident, that word was supposed to be for germans (who call themselves deutschland) and our dumb english speaking ancestors thought that the dutch were germans |

idk take a look at other countries that end in "land(s)" and look at their demonyms examples country - language - demonym ------------------------------- iceland - icelandic - icelander finland - finnish - finn poland - polish - pole england - english - englishman

anyway "nederland" going from "the netherlands" is interesting cuz "nether" in english means lower lands "neder" in nederland means to humiliate one
we are "the humiliated lands" if you translate it literally
makes sense XDDDDDDDDD
