the only real reason to take one is if you need a year to afford college

"Study abroad, you can be in a European country for cheaper while doing school"
i've done a ton of research about this, and i found out there are better options for me personally to stay in-state than go overseas. but if i lived in a really small state like delaware or rhode island i probably would look into it more seriously

Taking a gap year does not help you mature lol.
Where are you going to live, Where are you going to work, why would you take a year off your education when you can just get it over with.
Also if you want to study in europe look at the road scholarship and study abroad opportunities |

Take a gap year, You should probably read so you dont lose what you learned throughout highschool, reading sucks but it keeps your mind sharp, get a job if you dont have one yet and earn some money to afford the trip.

Personally I think you should go to college now while working, by the time you finish you should be able to afford an apartment and do what my mom did, in your twenties your still a kid at heart, she traveled so much in her 20's then when she matured more, she got more serious about life.

"Taking a gap year does not help you mature lol."
depends on you are going to use it
"Where are you going to live, Where are you going to work, why would you take a year off your education when you can just get it over with."
obviously if you are going to do it, some planning will go into it.
"Also if you want to study in europe look at the road scholarship and study abroad opportunities"
that's what i'm doing

pros: year off(who doesn't like that) ready monetarily can focus on other things for a whole year(getting a license, etc)
cons: year older than everyone else curriculum may be fuzzy you can't graduate with your undergrad at 20 like me |

i'm graduating high school at 17 so if i took a gap year i'd just be on the older side of my grade, but that's not that important to me
"curriculum may be fuzzy"
what do you mean

Literally everyone I've talked to said it does There are gap year programs. Everyone I've talked to about it doesn't regret it. Some Ivy league schools actually recommend students take gap year programs. (including Harvard and Yale) |

Ok great book travels has a wonderful time and makes some money!! Takes some photos shares the memories with the fam and he's set right?
Well if i'm not mistaken book wants to go into Business (right) so not only would he forget ALL that information he's learned so far, he will come back to a completely different social scene and will have a hard time readjusting back to school. You have years after college to explore the world so why take a year off college to do so.
I guarantee whatever college you go to will have a opportunity for you to study abroad without having to take a Gap year. |

"Ok great book travels has a wonderful time and makes some money!! Takes some photos shares the memories with the fam and he's set right? "
that's not what i meant, and if you don't have a passport from any european country you cant get a job unless your sponsored by a company... what i meant was save in high school, spend it wisely on the trip and then work when you get home until college. nothing more
"Well if i'm not mistaken book wants to go into Business (right) so not only would he forget ALL that information he's learned so far"
high school has taught me nothing and will not teach me anything about business. and keep in mind i've already taken a marketing course
"he will come back to a completely different social scene and will have a hard time readjusting back to school."
social scene will be different anyway, and wouldnt taking a gap year and traveling actually help you socially? you have the potential to make friends from around the world, and it gives you something to talk about when you go back to school. plus you can talk to people who have also been to that country/originally from that country about your experiences.
"I guarantee whatever college you go to will have a opportunity for you to study abroad without having to take a Gap year."
no one is disputing that, but studying abroad is much different than taking a gap year
