So I just bought a gtx 1080 cause I had the money and more importantly why not?
Any recommendations of games that I should buy/get? I will only be going up to 1920x1080 or HD, so I really dont have to worry about frames or graphics or anything like that.

@tnt - Wow. The Titan XP is an enthusiast-level card. This is just an average PC user that had the money to buy an above-average card. The 1080 isn't the most powerful, but comparing the two is not the purpose of this thread. And how can you call the 1080 weak? The average gamer is using a 970. The 1080 performs ~200% better than that.
@mitt - Some people like to have the power to play games with very high quality. There's nothing wrong with that. I plan to get a 1080 as well, coming from a 980. I'm fully aware that much power is unnecessary, but I like playing games at their full potential.

"There's nothing wrong with that"
if you're at 1080p you probably have a 60hz screen, meaning that a 1080 is a waste of money |

| ##### ## the best choice for the ### 1080 though, it's just wasted on 1080p and if you have two ### 1080s, 4k is great |

@storm - I'm using an ASUS VG248QE which is 1080p @ 144hz max. There are several 1080p monitors that can run at refresh rates higher than 60hz. Either way, a monitor's refresh rate has nothing to do with getting a graphics card for playing games at higher settings. It is only considered when wanting to 'see' games at frames above 60 fps. Also, having a 10-series card would last years down the line.
If you were upgrading a component, it would make sense to plan ahead instead of getting today's recommendations. Buying anything that is above average is not a waste of money.

yes I know all of that
but in this context I think it's safe to assume OP does not have a 60hz monitor. OP seems to be inexperienced in this kind of thing-- I could be wrong, but it's quite a safe assumption |
