| the league was founded in canada.... YET WE ONLY HAVE 6 CANADIAN TEAMS.. also people are saying 'haha canada sucks cuz last year there was no canadian teams in the play-offs' yeah thats because like 85% of the league has american teams |

First off, it's 7 Canadian teams
And we've been over this before. Sure most nhl teams can host an nhl team, but it could be extremely costly.
Just be thankful that the Nordiques could be back soon. |

It's simple economy. The cities of the US are better markets for the game of hockey than the smaller Canadian cities.
Be glad it's not one like the MLB or NBA- while I would like an even 15/15 split, it's just not logical. |

US Population: 318.9 million US Teams: 23 Teams per person: 13.87 million people per team |
