Hello everyone, after an extensive meeting with the WCoR staff and the leaders of several of the clans involved, we have decided that ending the Ro-War early would be in the best interest of all parties involved.
Though this may be upsetting, we believe that people have lost sight of why the Ro-War was conceived and executed in the manner of which it was, the intent was to have fun. Ending the Ro-War early is not something anyone here wants to do, but it is viewed by everyone as the best possible course of action. With this being said, we, the WCoR staff and management, have been going over how to improve for the next WCoR event.
With this announcement comes a call to arms for those of you with scripting and/or building capabilities, and would like to volunteer to help WCoR in future events and/or activities. PM Davekillerish or Steamsport for more information.
Major issues known about the Ro-War and how it was handled:
Development in general - We had great volunteers and help from plenty of people, but not everything was given foresight and bugs occurred. We had to re-script a whole SMG in a night with animations, thanks to kuas we met the friday deadline but not without bugs.
Conflict of interest and issues with others. - No matter what you do there will be conflict, and issues amongst the people involved in an event. You will see it on the forums and it's in private too. I am just thankful that the issues or arguments were minimized early on and the whole war wasn’t fought on the forums. We try our best to not strangle each other at the throat, so please, if you felt drama spikes and issues like that happen, I am sorry and I hope you don’t have ill will over it.
VAK - This is an issue that is generalized into a few different things. One, with good intent on keeping the Ro-War interesting and active, Steam invited VAK to the Ro-War and made arrangements before the war begun. Slowly approaching their entry date, a few WCoR staff were informed.
There was a major breakdown in communication where information was not properly relayed to everyone involved.
The secondary issue with VAK being involved, is that the other parties involved were not thought of when making this drastic change to the Ro-War. TEF and PoL were not prepared to deal with an overhyped VAK, and rather than spark their activity, it only diminished their spirits.
(*Of course, if someone wants to host a closing event, they are fully encouraged to. WCoR learned plenty from hosting this and we hope you do too. *) We are always actively seeking ways to improve ourselves, and this so far has what we have come up with.
Proposed Solutions and the WCoR plan of action: Having a development team made up of 100% volunteers Consulting the entirety of the staff before major changes are made to anything, (such with VAK and the Ro-War) and having more meetings regularly rather than when something needs to be discussed. In that vein, having communication well established beforehand and not dependent on one person is going to be achieved within WCoR. Information is not going to be held at the highest levels, especially of major importance, and most information will be allotted to anyone involved. In further events, the coalitions need to form a know how of each other before they move into war with each other. An event this scale needs to be hosted in the summer and planned and tested months in advance.
Besides all the negativity and breaking up of things, The WCoR staff and management know that plenty of people had fun and felt inclusive. They had been hit home with nostalgia of the forts that were chosen and had difficulty but enjoyment often times during the defense or raid of either base.
We hope to come back to an event styled like this and advance it tend fold from what it is. We fully believe that others will create events just like this and if you are interested you should try joining in on the event and attempting at it. There is a lot of options for this style of war and we would like to look at them and keep such a thrilling and exciting event positive and followed through to the end.
Special thanks to: - Davekillerish: WCoR Staff, for assistance in balancing the forts and helping build, editing and revising official documents, and assisting in developing the official Ro-War lore. - Elijahiscool: WCoR Co-Manager, for assistance in revising and editing threads - TheMedievalist for writing the lore with the help of staff and lissistiki giving critiques for it. - theagent009: Ex-WCoR Staff, for the concept and original ideas - theplanctconstant, LordNurgle, Legomanda, Ezaiahs, Nawmis, Kuas and Alertcoderf - For bug fixes, scripting development, over all helping in the function and movement of the war. - The clans involved who were actively testing the forts and giving legitimate feedback, as well as third party groups and persons who gave critique towards the WCoR management and development. -Thank you to all the clan members and leaders who dedicated a lot of time and effort and what they found to be this event to be and giving it literal life. -We would like to thank the clans who continue to defend even with the Vaktovian Menace at their doorstep.
Thank you from WCoR -Signed WCoR Director/Co-owner Steamsport -Signed WCoR Director/Co-owner Gannex -Signed WCoR Staff Members

this is why having an organised Ro-War sucks
ro-wars should happen naturally
I mean yes you made Summer maybe a little less boring but that's about it..
It wasn't front page news like the last Ro-War...
