-Best pre-launch event in WoW history -7.1 patch content already has more updates than all of Warlords of Draenor combined -Classes are finally somewhat balanced -You get exp for tagging mobs now -This expansion isn't about Green Jesus and Orcs -Artifact weapons
Tell me C&G, why haven't you pre-purchased Legion and subscribed to the best MMORPG of all time?

Honestly you should resub just for the pre-launch invasion event. With Demon Invasions it's literally the fastest way to level in WoW history, I got 3 alts to level 100 this week lmao

It's funny that you listed Artifact Weapons as a reason One of the many reasons player counts plummeted is because they removed an integral component of what made WoW an mmoRPG Getting epic or legendary weapons used to be an achievement on it's own, nowadays however Blizzard caters to the casual players who don't want to invest the time and effort required for those then achievements Artifact Weapons are another step back in that area, everyone will run around with their super duper awesome looking weapon, oh wait, only that it won't look super duper awesome when everyone runs around with the same damn thing

Artifact weapons are progression based, how "super cool xd" it looks reflects how much time you put into the game. So no, not everybody will be running around with a maxed out doomhammer. And seeing as there's over 100+ artifact weapons it won't really be a problem.

You have no clue how the artifact system works do you
It will take a long time to fully level your artifact weapon
we're talking legendary quest line time |

Sorry but you are missing the point, you are part of the (sadly) big audience that led to hardcore WoW being disassembled into the empty husk it is nowadays

And actually the removal of legendary weapons was not a huge reason for sub counts falling
Really a smaller one at that
Sub counts plummeted because the game became less social it was basically a dulled version of dark souls at a point in WOD |

fair point, I think it's just so that everyone can experience all the legendary class questlines at endgame that even your hardcore players would have trouble experiencing

Sub count went down hardcore because there were actually no endgame updates at the end of expansions. Cata/MoP/WoD all had at the least 6 months without any actual game updates which forced subscribers to either A) Do the final raid continuously for 6 months or B) Unsubscribe. It has nothing to do with the casualization of the game since there's 4 different raid tiers that panders to literally every type of player.

what are all these "expansion packs" that you have to preorder and everything?

Essentially, expansion packs are sequels to the game. Like you hit max level in Vanilla WoW and got all the endgame gear, so Blizzard releases a new Expansion Pack, "The Burning Crusade" which increases the max level, adds new dungeons/raids/items to the game and adds completely new zones for you to level through as well as just giving the game quality of life updates. And from now on you don't have to buy all the DLC's to be up to date. Just buy Legion and you get access to all the old DLC's afaik. And subscription is for the regular game updates you get during the new expansion such as new raids/dungeons tc.

You don't have to buy every one indivually
with just a subscription you get every xpack except the current one so you can level all the way until you're at the new xpac
THen if you want to take the game seriously just buy the new xpac lol |

Sub counts fell because: - Content droughts - Simplifying of game mechanics aka casualisation - Reducing the MMO factor by allowing players to essentially play singleplayer - Removing of RPG traditional mechanics that gave the game more depth even if that is debatable - Leveling gear for alts leading to new players to the game being dominated in both PvE and PvP - Removal of important PvP mechanics - Forced time limited grinds aka dailies and legendary quest lines (literally limiting how fast you can progress, turning away hardcore players) - Real money store allowing the purchase of ridiculous looking things that deflate the whole special thing
Maybe more but those are the ones I can think off the top of my head I raided in vanilla, BC, WotLK, Cataclysm, and lastly MoP I was a high rated arena player, and generally avid PvPer
If you think I'm a crybaby that only got to experience vanilla you are terribly wrong I'm afraid and if you think my opinion is unique even more so

okay another question...
apparently realms are pretty important in WoW, yes? like when i first made my player i just picked a random realm that was low population but i've heard that in other realms you can fight other players or something? |

The only legitimate reason there is content droughts lmao, everything else is extremely negligible.

If you pick a low pop realm it really takes away from the whole experience as there's hardly any people you'll run into. You should probably pick a high/full realm with PvP enabled. This means A) You'll see lots of people everywhere and B) If you see an alliance nerd you can kill him
