Many-a-years ago, my great Grandpa gave me what he referred to as his 'lucky penny'. At a glance, it looked like just an ordinary penny that had been strung to form a necklace. When I informed him of this, he simply chuckled and told me that I would find its purpose in time.
One day, I was driving home from work my penny necklace began glowing and floating. Startled, I exited my car. The necklace began dragging me by the neck towards a forest. From a distance, I peered into the dark forest and spotted something glowing a bright purple deeper within the brush. I took off the necklace and stuffed it into my hoodie.
I inched closer to the thick brush, eager to sate my curiosity. The forest quickly grew quiet as I approached its borders; birds stopped chirping and the wind went still.
Absolute silence was pierced by a loud grunt emanating from a dense pile of fauna quite a ways from where I was standing, from this brush emerged a broad black mass - although a dark haze masked its true form, I could easily tell that the beast had an overwhelming stature.
Before I had a chance to react the creature got onto all fours and began bounding towards me. The birds began screaming and the wind howled deafeningly. The beast tore through the wilds, leaving nothing but devastation in its wake. In mere seconds the black blob had nearly quadrupled in size as it sprinted in my direction. As the ground shook I closed my eyes; 'This is the end', I thought. In a final act of desperation, I quickly dug through my pockets and found my Grandpa's lucky penny. I grasped it and held it out in front of me as if a shield.
As suddenly as it had started, everything went silent. After what felt like hours with my eyes closed, the birds cautiously began chirping again as the wind pushed lightly on my hood. Slowly opening my eyes, I realized that the mysterious creature had stopped mere feet from my outstretched arm, still clutching the lucky penny. With dust still kicking up, the dark mist ascended as the beast cautiously approached me, I could finally see him clearly; it was Harambe.

This made me laugh. Actually a good story. Write a whole chronicle of these.

cool
I'm Rick Harrison, and this is my pawn shop. I work here with my old man and my son, Big Hoss. Everything in here has a story and a price. One thing I've learned after 21 years - you never know WHAT is gonna come through that door. |
