than actual RAM sticks.

does he have autism or am i misinformed

it is my understanding that SSD's have a maximum read/write amount.

RAM does too, but RAM is actually wired more directly to the CPU so it should be much faster.

No, your laptop does not have 1 TB of RAM.

That's bs.

RAM is way faster than SSD, and is also closer to processor, so lower response time.
Plus, what would be the point of using SSD as RAM?

If you needed over 16 GB of RAM for anything, then you are doing something wrong. For most uses, 16 GB is overkill. I have 16 GB of ram, and the most I use at a time is somewhere around 7-8 GB.

Except that most people here were right, but you just don't know anything Proxy.
RAM is much closer to the CPU than the harddrive, the whole point of it being closer is because it's being used much more frequently and it needs to be fast. The IT guy probably meant it was better to use an SSD as virtual RAM than a flash drive as virtual RAM, if that's not what he meant then he's stupid.

Uhh, if you have a laptop with 1 TiB RAM, you do not have a 128 GiB SSD.

Dude I was talking about the girl that said she had 1tb ram on her laptop... And I know how RAM works and what it is buddy... I built my own PC so I'm pretty sure I know what I'm talking about... XD And Virtual RAM still doesn't come close to the speed of the actual DIMMs, it's more for operating system based computes because it is doesn't require the speeds as much...

I built my own too, that doesn't mean I know how the hardware works, I only know what it does.

@Proxy
You can build your own computer without knowing anything about how computers work. It's not very hard..

If you're literate and have a pair of hands, you can build a computer.

A long term memory solution like an SSD is a far jump when compared to a short term memory solution. LinusTechTips did a video covering this, where they experimented with partitioning a USB stick and using it in place of RAM.

Building your own computer doesn't make you a hardware guru any more than making a good salad makes you a master chef

The fact that I built my own PC has nothing to do with my knowledge on how the actually hardware/softer functions...

Totally true, but my dad's old job gave them 32 or 64 because they do drafting and I suppose they thought it would make it work better. AutoDesk is still glitchier than the Windows Updater.
