| PigHead10's tutorials were actually really useful for me. Those are what taught me how to script. |

I learned it by looking into random easy scripts and trying to edit them a bit. also I used to try to rewrite a script, so I could see what each line of code did.
and ofcourse if I didn't know what it did I checked the wiki. |

@Insane
Rudolph actually has a couple of tutorials on his youtube :P
Anyways, youtube tutorials do help but I mostly learned/is learning from the wiki and from the Scripters sub-forum (here) to help me make things better or get a better understanding of things.

First I started off with this little thing: snap[.]berkeley[.]edu
That really taught me how to think like a script, you have to know how to tell a script what to do. The words you use are like the syntax, but the way in which you ask it is almost always the same.
Roblox LUA: I used to insert free models and tamper with the scripts First I edited numbers to see what happened Then if statements Then I started to patch if statements together Then I started writing my own if statements and such I started looking at more and more advanced free model scripts protip: the wiki is essential to know what's going on with everything
I spent a long time just editing gear scripts to make things happen, and just grew from there, writing more and more parts individually, to the point where I just became able to write my own scripts no problem.
Practice makes perfect.
We're always here to help, Scripters forum served me well when I was getting started, and even does to this day. There's a wide variety of people here with a diverse range of skills.
Good luck.
P.S - When you're learning, make sure Filtering Enabled is off. Filtering Enabled is an option in workspace. If enabled, the game is divided into server and clients (the people connected). This is essential for some things to work, like local-side parts, and good for preventing exploits, but can be bad for lag if you're not careful and also makes you use scripting events that cross between localside and serverside. |

@classic,
looks like roblox players who played years ago used to just edit items and stuff, while people nowadays use youtube and tutorials :)
yet editing scripts was more of an experience :) |

PigHead10's youtube tutorials yeah.
Yup I did make those games! I hope you liked them.
I have youtube tutorials but not that many at the moment, feel free to watch what I have. PigHead10 covers quite a lot more though. |
