| The key word is indie game that they're charging $60 for and it's horribly optimised and completely barren. |

| The Dev himself said that it's possible to run into players but very rare. |

is that the multiplayer the first poster was talking about? and if so, is it REALLY that big of a deal to be a point of negativity?

I said etc because I didn't want to list all the reasons how is that bandwagoning
also, it was stated in multiple interviews that the game would be multiplayer, just seeing other players would be very uncommon i can't link you it now because I'm on iPad so I'll have to link you tomorrow |

All the footage I've seen of the game has been them walking and mining stuff, I've never seen this "ecosystem" in work.
Mining stuff repeatedly is not a fun game. |

"also, it was stated in multiple interviews that the game would be multiplayer, just seeing other players would be very uncommon"
i think i know what you're referring to, and the chances were somewhere around 1 and 1 million. is it really that serious? do you REALLY need the 1 in 1 million chance of seeing someone?
"All the footage I've seen of the game has been them walking and mining stuff, I've never seen this "ecosystem" in work."
i mean thats not what ive been doing but idk i guess people play it differently than me

It is something to be upset about as it was stressed about a lot in the interviews and a lot of people were expecting it
and no I haven't bought it yet because I am one of prior mentioned informed buyers ( informed buyer =\= band wagoner ) but from watching other people play the game it looks pretty barren
Maybe barren isn't the best word choice; more like bland/stale |

| The PC launch was horrible and there have been many instances of Sean lying and not fulfilling promises. |

| The multiplayer is important because he said it was there, don't make promises then keep quiet when you break them. |

i guess i understand what you're saying from an honest man's perspective, but i dont see how its that much of a hindrance to the game.

I wasn't around for the hype, so I see the game with a fairly clear lense. It very much feel lacking but extremely well constructed underneath. The game feels like a steel reinforced conceete platform holding up a shack, if that makes sense.
It shambles in its own weight. |

| Also you can't blame people for fantasising when the Dev could win a gold medal for being vague as hell about features. |

"promised multiplayer is nonexistent"
Multiplayer was never promised, but stupid media outlets convinced gullible people that Sean Murray PROMISED multiplayer. No. He never promised. He said time and time again that it would not be a main focus at launch because of the sheer improbability of player contact, and may not even be supported at first. People keep putting words in their mouth. Yes, he DID say player contact would be possible. Improbable, but possible. The no multiplayer scandal all seems like a bug to me though. They've taken steps to make it easier for players to meet; why would they do that if they wouldn't actually be able to see each other. Either it's a bug, or they plan on adding it in one of their content updates.
"game feels barren"
It's space. Space is barren, inhospitable, and after a while it gets pretty repetitive. They're doing content updates to add more. Elite: Dangerous was pretty barren pre-patch too, and it STILL is. You know what else was pretty barren before all of its updates? Minecraft. It was lacking in features, but now it's pretty full of things to do. Hello Games is planning to do a similar thing with NMS by adding free content updates. They're working on fixing all of the reported bugs first (rightfully so), but more features will definitely be on the way. There may be paid DLC too, but Sean did really stress that he wanted free content updates to be a major part of NMS.

And keep in mind that what you're playing is just a starting point for a whole line of new features down the line. There's a lot being added, people just have to be patient.

"you can't blame people for fantasising when the Dev could win a gold medal for being vague as hell about features"
you're definitely right. i guess in the end it doesnt matter though because i enjoy the game and thats all that really matters to me.
